STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
| | |
The final tally is in, and the French Club Coupon Drive to benefit Military Families raised $26,555.70 in coupons this year! Once again, we adopted the U.S. Air Force base in Lakenheath, United Kingdom. Club President Brittany Thomas and her mother, Mrs. Thomas, delivered the package to the Post Office at the end of April. This is an incredible project. Merci (thanks!) all for your enthusiasm and support.
English teacher Ms. Katie Berman and senior Addie Rupert both represented the Stallions in the Columbus Marathon last weekend!

| PRINCIPAL'S PERSPECTIVE | | |
Dear Friends, I hope this issue of DeTales finds you well and enjoying our beautiful spring days.I am happy to have this opportunity to wish our mothers and grandmothers a joy-filled and healthy Mother's Day. On behalf of the students, faculty, and administration please accept my gratitude for all that you do for your children and grandchildren.
The Saint Francis DeSales High School community has been blessed through the years by matriarchs who model the grace and dignity of our heavenly Mother Mary. As the leader of this community I am blessed to witness daily examples of how the faith, compassion, and love of our mothers have such a positive and lasting impression on our young people. And for that I say thank you.
I would also like to take this occasion to express my gratitude to our teachers for their efforts throughout this year. Today marks the official end of National Teacher Appreciation Week. As I have stated many times we are truly blessed at Saint Francis DeSales High School to have teachers who have enthusiastically answered the call "to teach as Jesus did."
While our current school year is rapidly drawing to a close and there are many events and activities competing for our attention I would request that all associated with our school dedicate themselves to finishing the year in a strong fashion. It is important for us to remember that the closing days of a school year are as critical as the opening days. With this in mind, let us value these closing days as gifts.
In closing, I humbly request that over this Mother's Day weekend that you join me in offering a prayer of thanksgiving for our mothers, both living and deceased, who have touched this community with their hearts
Peace and God's Blessings, Dan Garrick '79 Principal

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION
| | |
Loving God, source of all life, We give you thanks for the gift of life that you have given each of us. We also give you praise for all of our mothers this weekend as they have been given such a wonderful blessing to share in the miracle of life with You. Hear the prayers of all mothers around the world who on Sunday will pay tribute. For all those mothers we have lost, may they be with You and the angels in paradise this day and we pray that we will be with them again through all of eternity. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
