Dear Students, Faculty and families,
We would like to thank you all so much for your support with Tyler's fundraiser for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. With your help, we raised $3830.00 for the foundation! This money is very much needed for research to find new treatments and hopefully a cure someday for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Thank you for purchasing wristbands, raffle tickets and for joining us at Giammarco's.  We sincerely appreciate all of your support!

*Tyler is involved with an organization called c3n (collaborative chronic network) which has an initiative called Improve Care Now. He is a part of a National Patient Advisory Counsel that is made up exclusively of pediatric patients. His involvement with c3n was recently published in the Wall Street Journal. Tyler will also travel to Washington, D.C. this month to meet with Legislators and Senators at the Capital to try to lobby for patients impacted with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Bridge Competition
Mrs. Zacharias' Construction Technology classes won 2 out of 3 categories in the Balsa Bridge competition. Bruce Weirich from Ontario High School began this annual competition four years ago. Last year the highest weight held was 540 lbs by student Jhas Corbitt. This year, sophomore Nick Danner's bridge held 585 lbs! Nick pictured right with his winning bridge.
 

New TACK Officers
Next year our Stallion TACK club will be led by Co-Presidents Sonia Gish and Megan Wanner, and Communications Officers Lauren Asman and Maddie Walberry. Pictured left. 

Atlas Butler Award Winner
SFDHS had its second Atlas Butler award winner announced this week! We congratulate senior Eric Niehaus, and his AP Government & Politics teacher, Mrs. Seggerson, who will receive $250 for her classroom. Eric was also featured in the May issue of Columbus Monthly; check out the article here.

CROSU
Seniors Olivia Pina and Joseph Chagnon are the first students from DeSales that have completed TWO college level Calculus courses (Calculus II and Calculus III) from the Post-Secondary Education program sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education at The Ohio State University. This is an outstanding achievement!  Elisabeth Saunders, Kevin Walsh, and James Walsh also completed Calculus II though this program under the direction of math teacher, Mrs. Val Sharritts. These talented mathematicians are pictured right.

SPIRIT SHOP SALE CONTINUES!
A special reminder about the end of the year clearance/remodeling sale in the Spirit Shop. We need to clear out some merchandise so that we can complete a remodeling of the store over the summer and re-stock next year with new inventory items and a better selection of sizes. 
The store is open before school and during all lunch periods. Check the store webpage for details about special evening hours.
