Kris Quinn Long '86
Stay-at-Home Mother of Many Her advice to current DeSales students is something that Kris Long lives daily. "Don't settle for easy when choosing your college/career path," Long says. "You were not put on this earth for your entertainment and pleasure but to serve others. In this you will be blessed and your life will be full."
Long and her husband, Brent, had four children of their own when they travelled to Ethiopia 4 years ago, a country with the highest number of orphans and the fewest number of adoptions. The Longs brought 3 siblings home to Westerville to join their active family.
"Once your eyes are open to the magnitude of the orphan problem of the world it is extremely difficult to turn a blind eye," said Long. "It was a natural ministry for us to be involved in - I was already mothering four children. Already cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and tucking children in bed at night. I figured we could certainly all scoot in and fit more children around our table and into our lives."
Long and her husband, Brent, reside in Westerville with Aaron, 17; Jenna, 15; Joseph, 13; Ellie, 12; Kate, 11; Brooke, 10; and Max, 8.
