The entire action of "Anything Goes" takes place aboard the "S.S. American", a luxury liner sailing from New York to England in the 1930's. Once on board, the audience is introduced to a cast of colorful characters that are sure to keep them entertained throughout the performance.
Billy Crocker, played by senior James Walsh, is a self-proclaimed "broken-down broker" from Wall Street who finds himself stowed away on ship hiding from his irascible boss, Elisha J. Whitney, played by senior Joe Chagnon. Billy runs into an old flame, Hope Harcourt, played by senior Emily Iwaskiewicz who is sailing along with her mother, played by senior Ashley Putnam, and her fiancée, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, portrayed by freshman Daniel Kelly, to England to be married. Billy sets out to win Hope back from Sir Evelyn, and to stay clear of his boss throughout the journey.
Joining the cast is senior Kevin Walsh, who portrays Moonface Martin; AKA Public Enemy #13, a less than notorious gangster, along with his moll, Bonnie, played by senior Ali Paquette. Moonface dodges FBI agents by disguising himself as a man of the cloth, causing a case of mistaken identity as the ship sails. He is erroneously taken for Bishop Henry T. Dobson, played by freshman Ian Saunders, who is traveling with 2 Chinese converts, being played by St. Paul 8th grader Eric Myers and 7th grader Rocco Iacoboni.
The final passengers to embark on the journey are Reno Sweeney, played by junior Katie Myers and her 4 Angels, portrayed by seniors Hershey Millner, Kerri Moore and Danielle Perri, and freshman Meghan Springer. Reno, and ex-evangelist turned night club singer, along with her back-up singing and dancing Angels offer many lively routines that are sure to have audiences tapping in the aisles! Set sail for this light hearted musical filled with popular Cole Porter songs and energetic dance numbers. All Aboard!!
The show runs March 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 7:00pm in the DeSales Little Theater. Tickets will be sold beginning March 12 during all lunch periods (10:20 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.) and at the door throughout the run of the show. All seats are reserved. Tickets are $10.00.
