Starting this Sunday, June 10, our second service  

will change from 10 a.m. to 9 a.m. 

 

We will also offer a half-hour of activities during the first part of the service for any children who are there in Dutton Hall. It will not be broken into grades, but will be a larger group activity. To that end we need adults interested in helping out...it will be 11 Sundays, so if we get several volunteers we will not overstretch folks. Let the Revs. Joyce Scheyer or Grant Barber know if you are interested. See you this summer in church!  

 

Appalachian Service Project had a female chaperone cancel on us. We are in desperate need of an adult female to come on the trip with us. We leave on Saturday, June 23rd and return Sunday July 1st. We will be repairing homes of desperately poor families. It is a truly rewarding experience. It is also a spiritual retreat having daily morning and evening devotionals. There are 70 teenagers and 27 adults ready serve. Will you join us?  Please call me for details- Maureen Keys, 781-545-1348.

Invitation to Families & Friends of Drug & Alcohol Addicted Teens- Sat. June 9th

Boston's Children's Hospital specialist in teen drug abuse will be the first in a series of keynote speakers at First Baptist Church, 660 Country Way, Scituate. Marianne Pugatch, LICSW, Teaching Associate at Harvard Medical School and staff Social Worker at Children's Hospital will open the first meeting of Horizons of Hope on Saturday, June 9th from 1:30 - 2:30 pm Light refreshments and conversation will follow the one hour program.  For more information, contact Rev. Help serve a meal to the homeless in Brockton at Friends of the Table on Saturday, June 30th. Teens and their parents are especially welcome. Please contact the office, Rev. Grant or Joan Powers to sign up.

Second Opportunity: We hope to have an intense weekend of work in July rehabbing a homeless shelter cabin unit at Rehobath in Norwell on Washington Ave. All skill levels welcome. We invite you to share the abundance of your garden at St. Luke's Farm Stand on Sundays throughout the summer.

Please bring in your potted plants, flowers and herbs for transplanting, any early crops for sharing.  All of the items are free for swapping or sharing, but if you want to make a small donation all proceeds will benefit the local food pantries.  Please label all pots.

We are in need of two items. If any parishioners would like to donate said item or make a contribution toward the purchase of same, the church would be extremely grateful.

• 2 Baby Swings for the Nursery
• A tent with side flaps (10' x 20' or larger)

The tent is much needed for future fundraisers and will help to generate revenue and finally the swings would alleviate a growing need in the Nursery.

 

Thanks to the generous donations of several St. Luke's parishioners, we were able to purchase a new coffee machine which should arrive soon.
