Youth Outreach Wrap Up
First, a huge thank you to everyone who participated, taught, helped or donated to this year's Youth Outreach efforts.  We raised money for the Scituate Animal Shelter, Scituate Food Pantry, School on Wheels Massachusetts and the homeless populations of our state. The children did an amazing job of organizing and focusing on their goals. From the Food Pantry Scavenger Hunt to the Read-A-Thon to the Spaghetti Supper, I am truly amazed at the dedication St. Luke's has to helping with their hands and giving with their hearts. The final amounts that will be donated to each organization will be in the next Mission Tidings. Thank you again for a wonderful year. I look forward to next year's Youth Outreach efforts and welcome anyone who would like to volunteer.

With a glad heart and many blessings,
Stacey Stratton, Youth Outreach Coordinator

Dick Clay Bequest

St. Luke's has received the generous bequest from Dick Clay's estate, the proceeds of the sale of his house. $204,000 has arrived, with some specific direction for its use. The process of vestry conversation-lay leaders deciding how best to direct the use of this money based on Dick's instructions-will occur soon. By the way, vestry meetings are also always open to parishioners to attend, with privilege of voice (to raise questions, express opinions).

Dick Clay was a faithful, years-long member and supporter of our congregation. He attended all of our community events, church at the 10 a.m. service (except for tax season...he was an accountant, and conscientious about everything he did). He was a sailor and amateur lobsterman as well as a member of Rotary and Ducks Unlimited.

All are invited to follow Dick's example, and remember St. Luke's in their estate planning.

Fr. Grant Away for CREDO

The National Church Pension Fund invites small groups of clergy to a week-long professional and vocational retreat. I have homework!  In addition to making sure I have my annual physical, with all of those numbers (cholesterol, etc), I have forms about financial planning for the future, vocational and career reflection pieces. The goal is to look at the whole person. I will be away on my CREDO week from June 20-27th. The Sunday I'm away (June 26th), lay people will officiate at services of Morning Prayer.  Grant.

ASP Trip
The Appalachian Service Project trip is finally here. We send thanks to our wonderful parish for their financial support (many thanks for those who came to our recent car wash).  We now would appreciate for you to keep us in your prayers. We will be leaving Saturday, June 25th and returning Sunday, July 3rd. We will be going to a part of Kentucky that our group has never been to. That adds to our anticipation. On the trip are Judy and Bruce Bent, Nancy and Jake Buckley, Corbin Foucart, Brenda, Jeremy and Maureen Keys, Logan Self, Nicky Walker, Nikki and Xue Mei Yang.  With thanks,  2011 ASP Team
