TUES 12th APRIL & TUES 26th APRIL

with RĘCE - Frances Lawrence and Rachael Foster *

"See the Poly through the Rhythms"
(manipulating and incorporating polyrhythmic movement and steps into your Cuban salsa)

Give this a go!
Put 2 and 3 in a shaker, add a measure of syncopation, squeeze a bit of poly and a dash of rhythm. Shake hard and serve straight = Cuban Salsa!
Sorry, not a new reciepe for a cocktail, but we're talking 'POLYRHYTHMS'. Those 2 beats, 3 beats, 4/4, 6/8's all at the same time, is a making of the Afro Cuban sound and Cuban music, and how it sounds so sweet.

RĘCE is the London-based dance partnership of Frances Lawrence and Rachael Foster.
Frances Lawrence, with the assistance of Rachael will teach about manipulating and incorporating these cheeky layered rhythms and beats into your salsa dancing, working through:
  • ** What polyrhythms are and their musical purpose
  • ** How to find and use your own polyrhythms in salsa
  • ** How to hone this as a skill rather than learning a particular style of choreography
  • ** How to incorporate this skill without interrupting the partner - for both men and women

All of which brings a deeper connection to the music and your partner.

Afro Cuban music makes thorough use of polyrhythms. Applying these techniques taught will surely add to smoother understanding and expression within social dancing and further development in orisha movements and other afro cuban dance styles. PERFECT!

Both trained classically and also in African & Caribbean Peoples dance. Frances and Rachael together perform with the well established contemporary dance company ConnectingVibes.
Just in a short space of time, RĘCE are fast becoming a very well recognisable and respected dance formation in their own right within the dance world; numerous stage performances and had been invited to perform at the prestigous Blueprint dance event 2011.
With an inimitable blend of African, Caribbean and Contemporary technique, they deliver workshops that not only provide students with a dual perspective of the achingly new and the deeply ancient, but also a unique way of approaching and learning dance through fusion of styles and ideas.
So make a note in your diary and come along. Enrich your passion!!
Limited spaces available, no stress or booking in advance. This will be a 1st come basis.
