Stakeholder Survey for Environmental Study Protocols Closes April 29th

ProtocolsThe Environmental Study Protocols survey closes on April 29th, so please TAKE IT NOW if you have not already. Alongside other research and analysis, the survey is being used to gather stakeholder perspectives on environmental interactions  related to wave, tidal and offshore wind projects on the U.S. west coast. Stakeholder input is one of the many factors that will be used to help determine which issues are most appropriate for further evaluation.  Please visit the project website to learn more.

WCGA Ocean Health

WCGAMarine Renewable Energy Planning Guide

As part of its objectives for renewable energy,   the West Coast Governor's Agreement on Ocean Health (WCGA) is sponsoring the development of the Marine Renewable Energy Planning Guide. The Siting and Planning Information chapter is now open for review. Comments may be submitted on the project Feedback Forum through May, 31st.

WCGAWCGA Releases Biannual Report

The West Coast Governor's Agreement on Ocean Health has just released its biannual progress report describing key actions the organization and its regional partners have achieved over the last two years. In 2008 the WCGA formed ten Action Coordination Teams, comprised of volunteers with expertise in priority areas, to develop and implement work plans to achieve high prioirty regional goals. The teams have made significant advances towards protecting and managing ocean and coastal resources along the west coast and the economies they support.  An excutive summary of the report is also available on the WCGA website.

Public Meetings for Oregon Territorial Sea Plan

As part of the process of amending the Oregon's Territorial Sea Plan (TSP) for ocean renewable energy development, the Ocean Policy Advisory Council's (OPAC) Territorial Sea Plan Work Group is conducting a series of meetings this spring and summer to gather public input. At this stage of the TSP Amendment process OPAC is considering what areas within the territorial sea are appropriate for renewable energy development, and will make a recommendation for adopting maps designating those areas for this new use. Meeting dates and details will be posted on the OregonOcean website. Please refer to the Citizens Guide to the TSP Amendment Process for more details about the amendment process.

OWET Introduces TSP Resources Page

With the TSP Amendment process moving full speed ahead, the Oregon Wave Energy Trust (OWET) has added a TSP Resources page to its website. The new page features information about organizations involved in the TSP process, uses of the territorial sea, planning goals and guidelines, and upcoming meetings.  OWET believes that the TSP process is key to the responsible development of ocean energy in Oregon's waters, and it encourages interested parties to learn about and get involved in this important process.
