CMSP: Outreach
Initiative
To help ensure that the needs and interests of Oregon's
emerging wave energy industry are considered in ocean use planning, the Oregon
Wave Energy Trust (OWET) has contracted PEV to engage in Coastal & Marine
Spatial Planning (CMSP) processes. To
launch this project, we added a new CMSP site to the MHK KnowledgeBase™
with information designed to help ocean energy stakeholders learn about and
engage in this dynamic process as it relates to ocean renewable energy. In addition, PEV plans to
provide regular updates on CMSP in aequoreus navitas.

SITING: Hydrokinetic Leasing on the OCS
The
Regulatory Handbook has been updated to include Hydrokinetic Leasing for projects
on the OCS! New materials include a section on the Hydrokinetic Lease, OCS
Roadmaps, and a section on Integrating Hydrokinetic Leasing &
FERC Licensing. Other new resources have also been added, including the
Navigational Impacts & Mitigation Measures report from PCCI, as well as the
Deployment Effects report from RE Vision.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: Progress on the West Coast
Ocean Power
Technologies (OPT), Snohomish Public Utility District (SNOPUD, and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) are each making progress in the FERC licensing
process for proposed projects on the west coast. OPT filed its final license application and settlement agreement
for the 1.5 MW Reedsport OPT WavePark in August. PG&E completed a
draft pilot license application for the Humboldt WaveConnect project in
June. And SNOPUD submitted a draft pilot license application for their
Admiralty Inlet Tidal energy project in February. Track Project Developments

PLANNING & ASSESSMENT FRAMEWORKS:
West Coast Wave Energy
PEV, under contract
with the USDOE, is collaborating with stakeholders to develop a Planning & Assessment Framework that outlines
the information necessary for the development and permitting of wave
energy projects in California, Oregon, and Washington. The process of synthesizing existing information for the WCWE Framework has helped reveal data
gaps where more information could facilitate decision-making in the siting and
permitting process, and the project is now focused on collecting
stakeholder input on options to address the key data gaps. If you are interested in reviewing and providing feedback on the Options to Address Key Data Gaps, please Register for the Stakeholder Review List.
