Five Ways to Bring Autumn into Your Home with Candleholders

At this time of year as darkness comes earlier, I love to light candles. There's nothing like the glow of candlelight to add drama and fragrance to your home. Here are some tips for bringing the warmth and beauty of autumn into your home.

1. Get some scented candles. Scents like vanilla bean and pumpkin clove smell wonderful at this time of year, and will fill your home with a lovely fragrance.

2. Add a candleholder that holds multiple candles to your kitchen island or dining table. It will add a warm glow, and with scented candles will fill the air with the spicy notes of this season.

3. A hurricane candleholder looks great on a coffee table or entry table. Try something that pulls in the autumn colors of rusts, greens, and creams.

4. If you like a more contemporary look, try using mirrored candleholders. Mirrored accessories are very popular right now, and when paired with candles, they add drama and beauty to your home.

 5.  Wall sconces are another way to create a beautiful glow and warm fragrance in your home. Try putting them on either side of a mirror in your entry. They'll create a welcoming feeling for your guests.

You'll be amazed by the difference a few beautiful candleholders will make in the ambience of your home when paired with scented candles.  You can find all of these candleholders and more on our online boutique, Innovations Home Decor.  I've personally selected each piece, and every one is uniquely beautiful and charming. For this autumn season, my readers can receive a 20% discount on your purchase of candleholders.  Just enter AUTUMN in the coupon code area when you checkout.

Before & After Photos

I love sharing "before and after" photos. It's so much fun to see the changes in a room. I love seeing the reaction of my clients when we complete a project, but seeing the actual before and after photos is incredible. You can see a slideshow of "before & after's" on my website under Portfolio, but I'd like to showcase one in this newsletter each month where I'll comment on the project.

'After'

This small powder room had never been remodeled.  My clients wanted their home to have a Spanish influence.  The goal was to create an intimate, rustic decor without spending a great amount of money.  I began by designing the beautiful vanity cabinet.  Unfortunately, the detail is not visible in the 'after' photo.  The vanity is solid mesquite with beautiful handmade black iron hinges and door pulls.  The wall color is a soothing aqua.  A terra cotta colored porcelain tile was selected for the floor, which was replaced throughout the downstairs. We included small diamond shaped decos that have Spanish designs.  Terra cotta, beige, and black granite creates a stunning vanity top.  The plumbing fixtures, towel bars, and mirror frame are all oil rubbed bronze. Unique hand carvings and a wrought iron wall hanging were selected as the wall decor, and they add a richness to this warm and inviting powder room.
