SNF Reimbursement Cuts are Imminent: Cost Control is Key to Success

  

Beginning October 2011, Medicare payments to SNF's are expected to be cut by 11%, and Medi-Cal payment reductions of 10% are expected soon. Facility revenue cuts will necessitate immediate interdisciplinary department cost reductions.  

Are your food costs in budget? Raw food costs for a 99 bed SNF at 90% occupancy at $4.00 prd is $129,940 annually and at $5.00 prd is $162,425! Even a $0.20 prd overage can cost you nearly $6500 per year!
