Making a Difference

Legion Riders at the Ride 2 Recovery

At about 1:00 on Monday, December 14th 100 veterans wheeled in to Belleview as the Ride 2 Recovery came to a pause.  This was the third pitstop for the cyclists who began in Tampa on Saturday and would continue their venture to Ocala, Gainesville and finally Jacksonville. Belleview American Legion Post 284 was ready for their arrival, offering bag lunches and treats for the veterans.

"To do otherwise would more correctly be called a 'surrender strategy' to which the Legion would be opposed."

Hill said. "Representatives Ike Skelton and Solomon Ortiz should be commended for bringing these serious concerns to the attention of the Pentagon leadership."The two House members wrote in a Dec. 10 letter that they are "greatly troubled" by what they have been told by soldiers.
