Business Taking Care of Business
In the first hours of a major earthquake 98% of the rescues are performed by the local citizenery.
Businesses, civic organizations and media groups have the unique opportunity to "bridge the gap" with needed resources and helping hands.
On February 25th the Ready San Diego Business Alliance Conference was held to forge a working relationship between the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services and the San Diego business and civic community.
There are approximately 20,000 well qualified responders in the county but there are many more employees, families and civic members who will be the "first responder" when an event occurs.
San Diego's corporate and civic organizations play an integral role in emergency preparedness! Find out how your business or organization can be a part of this vital and beneficial alliance.

They are silent in the sense that you really don't know they are there and because they are so quiet they are often neglected.

When you turn your clocks ahead this Sunday please turn your attention to your smoke/Co2 detector and fire extinguisher.

Safety for Women-A Prepare4 Public Safety Announcement |
|
|
Wives, Mothers, Daughters and Sisters before you go for your next jog or drive to the store consider the links below.
Husbands, Fathers, Sons and Brothers read the information so you can foster a culture of safety with your Wife, Mother, Daughter or Sister.
These safety tips are compiled from contributions by; Jane Hitchock,President of Women Halting Online Abuse, Mary Ellen Burns, Spokesperson for the Boston Police Department and the Women's Safety Project.
If you jog alone take these precautions:
- Jog with a partner but if you must jog alone, jog in a well lit area somewhat free of hiding areas and shadows where predators can lie-in-wait.
- Carry your cell phone.
- If you can run without them DON'T wear headphones someone can sneak up on you. Keep your ears tuned and free of anything that will dull your hearing.
- Keep your eyes and head moving, look around constantly-see them before they see you. If you see someone coming you can prepare, surprise is the predator's plan.
- Let someone know where you are going.
- Stay current with local news reports because you will hear of attempted assaults or attacks in your area and you wil be able to plan accordingly.
There are many other things you can do to Spring into action and be proactive in your own personal safety.
Protect yourself for your sake and for those who love you!
