Serum vs Creams?
Do serums make skin oily?
Do I need both?
Why do serums cost so much?
Why are you telling me this - will Lujos be selling their own serums?

This paper is for information only, and not a sales pitch!

However, after our research, we concluded that serums add a special quality to skin care that creams alone do not.

Hence, we will be offering our own face and under eye serums in the future. If you would like advance information on this, contact us.

Greetings!

Serums for the face and under eye area have become very popular in the beauty business.

We at Lujos have been asked our opinion - so after extensive research, we have written an informative paper on the pros and cons of these serums, so that you can make up your own mind!
Face serum vs face creams, which is best ?
Neither, as they offer different benefits for your skin! While facial serums can provide extra moisturizing, the main benefit of serums is to get added nutrients into the deeper layers of your skin that a regular face cream is not able to reach. A cream has larger molecules than a serum, which means that a cream will not penetrate the skin as deeply as a serum will. While serums deposit nutrients, creams are meant to deposit moisture and hydration to your skin.

You can buy many types of serums such as anti-aging serums, skin brightening serums and even serums to prevent acne! The type of oil used in the serum will vary, depending on what type of skin you have, i.e. more mature, dry skin would benefit from olive oil and apricot kernel oil, while oily skin would usually prefer lighter oils such as sweet almond and grapeseed.

Other special oils are often added in small amounts, to provide additional skin benefits - examples would be carrot seed oil, cranberry seed oil, and evening primrose seed oil.
But won't a serum make my skin too oily?
No. The main reason why women avoid using oil on the face is the misconception that oil creates more oil. And the fact that for years skin care companies have told us we need to remove oil from our faces!

But oils protect our skin. Of course, you don't want to take your cooking oil and slather it on your face, but using the right serum will benefit your skin without making it oily.
Do I need both face serum and face cream?
It depends. Many skin care companies would like you to believe that you need both, but of course that is not always true. If you have a problem with your skin that you'd like to improve, such as dark spots or early aging signs, a serum can help.

Or, if your skin is very oily, a serum alone can give you enough hydration.

We at Lujos recommend that you use both, but not necessarily every day. Use the face serum 2-3 times a week (more if desired), to provide extra nutrients to your skin. Use your face cream every day to hydrate and moisturise your skin.

On the days you use both, apply the serum after your toner, and let it sink in for 2-3 minutes before applying your face cream.

Don't worry your face will be too oily, as both serum and cream are quickly absorbed into the skin!
Why are serums so expensive?
Serums are expensive because they contain no water or other ingredients, whereas most creams do. The very best serums contain only oils and essential oils, all of which are very expensive.

Having said that, most companies price up their serums by an even bigger percentage than they do their face and eye creams! Why? Because they can!
The team at Lujos will be continuing to offer our customers information on products that are in the news, so that you can make the best skincare choices for both you and your wallet!

We hope you have found this information useful!
Sincerely,
