Quick Updates
| The idea of a Poker Run for classic cars in September has hit a few snags. Turns out it requires a "Games of Chance" license to operate one. This is not costly ($15) but time-consuming to get. In Rockport it may be necessary to have it go before the select board, which doesn't meet again until September 14...stay tuned. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We will be hosting a Life Skills Training curriculum class for teachers newly assigned to deliver this middle school prevention program in local schools. Staff from Camden-Rockport Middle School, Hope Elementary School, and the Ashwood School will be trained by LST expert Nancy Dube to use the materials on August 24th. Staff and volunteers involved with Five Town CTC are welcome to attend as well, just let me know. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We have submitted our Form 990 to the IRS and the State of Maine. Thanks to Sandy Thomas and Mik Mikelson for all of their hard work getting this ready. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We have also filed our annual charitable solicitations report with the State of Maine and applied for renewal of our Charitable Solicitations license. (All non-profits raising monies from the public in Maine are supposed to be licensed to do so.) ____________________________________________________________________________________ We will eventually be expanding our offices into the suite next to ours on the second floor here at the Meadow Street Offices. The current tenant should be out in September, but Mark wants to do a bit of renovation in there, so we may be in by October. This will give us some additional much needed storage space, a private office for sensitive meetings, and a larger conference room. It will also allow us to provide a resource library for public use! Mark Ingraham and his partners have offered us a generous in-kind donation to make this possible. Be sure to thank him if you see him out and about in the community. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Planning for the Harvest Hootenanny continues. If you would like to help the steering committee, we could sure use it! Call me for more info. ____________________________________________________________________________________ The Youth Involvement Work Group has crafted a letter and job description for a Five Town CTC Youth Advisory Board. We are hoping to attract up to 20 CHRHS students to serve. For more information contact Ed O'Brien (eobrien@harborfamilyservices.org).

in closing...
|
I am looking forward to celebrating my oldest daughters 'official' graduation from UMO (Ecology and Environmental Science) with a party this weekend. She managed to not just make it through Organic Chemistry I and II this summer, but did so with grade grades, too! Two out of my three have now graduated from college....if I think about it too much, I feel kinda old!
