Dear Board, Work Group Members, and Staff; |
We have accomplished so much, but there is still so much left to do. I am glad that I have all of you working along side of me in this work! It doesn't seem quite so overwhelming if we are all doing it together!

Quick Updates
| We have just received the 2010 MYDAUS results. At first glance, the news is rather grim, but I haven't had much opportunity to delve into the data. An updated summary should be available soon! ____________________________________________________________________________________ The Funding work group is working on a Poker Run for classic cars in September. We could use a few more volunteers to help organize this event, which involves participants paying a $1 fee to enter, driving to five designated spots to receive a card, and then convening with their completed poker hands for a BBQ and cruise-in while waiting to hear who got the best hand and won the prizes. Let me know if you can help with this! ____________________________________________________________________________________ We will be hosting a Life Skills Training curriculum class for teachers newly assigned to deliver this middle school prevention program in local schools. Staff from Camden-Rockport Middle School, Hope Elementary School, and the Ashwood School will be trained by LST expert Nancy Dube to use the materials on August 24th. Staff and volunteers involved with Five Town CTC are welcome to attend as well, just let me know. ____________________________________________________________________________________ I traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in a focus group on the implementation of the President's 2011 plan to test his "Prevention-Prepared Communities" model on Monday. Hopefully Congress will leave the funding for this program in the budget! ____________________________________________________________________________________
The Coalition Maintenance Work Group is busy planning both a couple of general info sessions for the public and an organizational retreat. The dates are included in the section above and more info will be coming soon. For now, please save those dates!
