Greetings

LetterfromGBWish of a Lifetime had a very exciting first half of 2012.  Our mission is to change the way our culture views aging by granting Wishes. Through your generous support, we now have granted more than 400 Wishes in 41 states. In May of this year we granted over one Wish per day!

Incredible Wishes are being granted, including WWII vets visiting Washington D.C. monuments that express our country's appreciation for their service. Donnie fulfilled his dream to watch his grandson play collegiate baseball. Lona, our oldest Wish Recipient to date, spent her 105th birthday at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

Our mission is also gaining national attention. Our aspirations and Wishes have been featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, National Public Radio, and more. Through help from our supporters, donors, and collaborative partnership with Brookdale Senior Living, people all over the United States realize the contribution that the Greatest Generation has made to our society.

As our population ages, more Americans are coming together to honor, cherish, and value the contributions of our most precious asset - senior citizens. Supporters, just like you, are helping us to create a cultural change. And we've only just begun!

I urge you to spread the word about Wish of a Lifetime to family, friends and businesses. It's simple!  Just forward this newsletter or introduce WOL to businesses and civic organizations you support.

Together we can honor our "national treasures" and spread inspirational stories  of lifetime dreams.

Best Wishes,

YoureinvitedtoourannualgalaYou're Invited to The Evening Affair - July 14th

It's not every day you get to meet Olympians from the 1948 London games, but if you attend our 4th annual gala, The Evening Affair, you just might!

The Evening Affair, A Night of Golden Wishes,
will be honoring six outstanding Olympians who participated in the last London Olympics games and the first Olympics to be held after WWII.

Among the many Olympians of the '48 team who will be attending is
Frank Haven. Frank is a four-time Olympic rower who captured second place with a canoe borrowed from the Czechoslovakian team.  Years later, Frank went on to win the gold in the 1952 Olympics, and proudly presented it to his father, Bill Haven, who had given up the  chance to compete in the 1924 Olympics to witness Frank's birth.

letterfromdonorWhy I donate

Choosing to donate to any organization is a very personal decision - one we don't take lightly at Wish of a Lifetime. We are very grateful for those who choose to support us, and that's why we'd like to share a letter from a donor named Kathy.  Her words are better than any we could ever use to explain what being a part of Wish of a Lifetime really means.

"I became acquainted with Wish of a Lifetime (WOL) shortly after the loss of my father.  My father was a man that lived life to the fullest, filling his days

highschoolsHigh Schools Help Create a Cultural Change

Two Colorado high schools raised money for Wish Recipients  John T. &
Chuck T.  Smoky Hill and Cherry Creek high schools became the first in the country to support senior citizens with their Wishes of a Lifetime.  These schools are moving our mission forward by helping us honor deserving seniors and are changing the way we think about elderly citizens.

At Cherry Creek High School, John won over the crowd when he and a student danced at their pep rally just before announcing the students had raised enough money to grant John's Wish.  Thanks to their efforts, John was reunited with family in Minnesota he hadn't seen in more than 20 years!

Smoky Hill High School's students were so excited to help grant Chuck's Wish to go to the Indy 500. They attended his surprise Wish Granting party at his senior living community and honored him at a pep rally on the last day of classes.

If you're interested in school fundraising for Wish of a Lifetime, please contact Carrie Packard at 303-954-9144 ext 18.
