| 10 ways to make your car dealership more secure |
Whether you have established security or not, dealerships can apply 10 easy steps to ensure that their existing system is more effective and their premises more secure. Please read the following 10 ways to make your dealership more secure and visit our new website for more information.
CCTV Systems
#1 - Check time clocks have changed on CCTV and Alarm equipment
On Sunday 25th October we revert to Greenwich Mean Time (clocks go back one hour) and it is important to check your control equipment. [To change Grasslin time clocks installed by Rhino Security click here]
#2 - Ensure Sufficient site lighting
Check site lighting levels at night and change any bulbs that have blown. Consider Intra-red lighting for dark areas. [Click here to see a demo of our Redvision Infa Red Speed Dome with a 100m IR Range]

#3 - Maintain hedges and trees
Cut back any new foliage that has grown during the summer and might now wave in front of detectors creating false alarms. Remember, most detectors have a 90 degree field of view.
#4 - Clean PIR detectors
Clean all PIR detectors of spider's webs. Walk-test detectors to ensure they are associated to the correct cameras. Ensure dome cameras have retained their pre-set positions.
#5 - Review keyholder details with CCTV Monitoring or Alarm Monitoring Company
Check that your CCTV Monitoring Station and Alarm Monitoring Company have up-to-date keyholder details including home and mobile phone numbers.
Security Posts & Barriers #6 - Lubricate locks
Lubricate all locks on posts and removable barriers following the long dry summer. Only use small amounts of a light thin oil such as WD40 or GT85.
#7 - Ensure key security
If you can not account for all the keys supplied with your posts consider replacing all locks with a new key number.
#8 - Clean out moving parts
Clean out the lid hinges of all telescopic posts, and barriers, using a screwdriver or similar. Ensure the lid is easy to operate.
#9 - Check lifting handles
Check lifting handle for signs of wear or corrosion. Arrange to replace any handles before they fail.
#10 - Regularly service posts
Arrange a service of any posts that are difficult to operate. Being difficult to operate should not be an excuse for not using the posts. And Finally, Carry out a survey of your site security to ensure you have the best possible cover and that you are complying with your Insurer's instructions. Rhino Security would be pleased to assist with a FREE site survey and report.

|
A recent sequence of criminal activity proves that intruders only require 4 minutes to remove a Mercedes GPS System worth around £3000. Reduce the risk by parking those cars that are most vulnerable in good views of CCTV cameras and within the best lighting conditions.
