MARCH CONFERENCE BUSINESS MEETING  
The March Conference Business Meeting will be Wednesday, March 21 at the Embassy Suites, Lombard. Tom Mannix, Managing Partner of Constituents Outreach Consultants and a local elected official, will be the featured speaker. He will address common concerns, such as how a unit of government can utilize online tools to communicate with their residents and will cover topics ranging from how to create content, how to manage content, and also tips, tricks and insights to make your online outreach successful. We will also hear the first presentation in our Municipal Innovation Spotlight series. The Village of Woodridge will give a five minute presentation of how they advertised housing opportunities in their village to relocated employees of Navistar. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RECEPTION FOR CONFERENCE BUSINESS MEETINGS NOW BEGINS AT 5:45 P.M. CONFERENCE PLANS MONTHLY VISITS TO SPRINGFIELD

The Conference's next Springfield Drive Down will be on Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27. Please note that the March dates have been rescheduled from previous dates. Future dates are May 15-16, as well as IML Lobby Day April 25 and Capitol-For-A-Day May 10. If you are interested in attending one of the future visits to Springfield, contact Executive Director Mark Baloga.

HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HSIP) CALL FOR PROJECTS
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced a call for projects for the 2013 Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Eligible projects are those that will improve a highway system or specific location to reduce severe crashes. IDOT will make $9 million in funding available statewide and projects should be prepared to utilize funding in fiscal year 2013 (although multi-year requests will be considered). All project phases are eligible for funding including preliminary engineering, land acquisition, construction, and construction engineering. The deadline to submit an application is April 2, 2012. CALL FOR ITEP PROJECTS
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced a call for projects in the 2012 Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP). Approximately $50 million will be available for community-based projects that expand travel choices and enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, historic, aesthetic and environmental aspects of our transportation infrastructure. Project sponsors may receive up to 80 percent reimbursement for eligible project costs. Applications are due on Tuesday, May 29, at 11:59 p.m. Please visit the website

IKE PLANNING PROGRAM CALL FOR PROJECTS
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has announced a call for projects for the 2012 Illinois "Ike" Disaster Recovery Planning Porgram. DCEO will make up to $6,000,000 available to support development and adoption of comprehensive plans that will guide long-term disaster recovery efforts and provide policy that reduces at-risk development areas. Applications are due March 30, 2012. IMET MONTHLY UPDATE
IMET's 1-3 Year Fund produced an outstanding net one-month return of .11 percent as of January 31, 2012, (1.32 percent annualized) and a net one-year return of .48 percent as of January 31. IMET's 1-3 Year Fund invests exclusively in U.S. Government-backed securities including Treasuries, Agencies, and Agency mortgage backed securities, only the safest investments permissible under the IL Public Funds Investment Act. IMET's Convenience Fund continued to provide a strong, competitive rate to IMET members as the Convenience Fund posted a net one-month return of .02 percent as of January 31, 2012 with an average daily yield for the month of .28 percent and a net one-year return of .30 percent as of January 31, 2012. The CVF has a minimum rate guarantee of the Federal Funds rate through 12/31/12.
