SPRINGFIELD DRIVE DOWN
The 2010 Springfield Drive Down will be Tuesday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Information and registration forms have been sent to all mayors/presidents and managers/administrators. They can also be found on the DMMC website. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 26.

The Drive Down is an excellent opportunity for municipal officials to influence legislative proposals that affect their communities and to meet legislators and state officials. Attendees will be able to participate in briefings on pending legislation, attend committee hearings and meet with legislators.

Carpool with DMMC this year and save money! The bus has been discounted to $85 per rider and is less harmful to the environment than everyone driving separately. See the registration packet for more information.

Contact Rick Curneal, Legislative Director, for more information on the Drive Down at (630) 571-0480, ext. 225 or rcurneal@dmmc-cog.org.

WHEATON'S FLEET GOING GREEN
The City of Wheaton will use $47,837 it received through the Illinois Clean Diesel Grant Program to retrofit 13 aged diesel trucks with systems that will improve the vehicles' emissions. The Illinois Clean Diesel Grant Program is being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Its goal is to reduce particulate matter emissions and other pollutants from diesel-powered vehicles and to improve public health. The Wheaton Public Works Department also incorporates the use of biodiesel fuel and follows a policy to reduce the idle time of its vehicles.
DUPAGE COUNTY STORMWATER ORDINANCE WEBSITE
The County's Stormwater Department and its consultants are in the process of developing a new Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance. The County is at the beginning of the process and seeks to engage municipal policy makers early on in the development of the ordinance. Stay informed and provide feedback through the County's Stormwater Ordinance website and blog. For more information, contact Dave Winklebleck, DuPage County Department of Economic Development and Planning, at (630) 407-6678.
