IDENTITY PROTECTION ACT
House Bill 547, approved during the Veto Session, mandates strict limits on the use of social security numbers for identification purposes. The bill requires municipalities to adopt an Identity-Protection Policy to implement these mandates within 12 months of the effective date of the Act (November 2010). If any community already has a policy, or is developing and approving a policy, please send it to the Conference so we can share it with other municipalities. If you develop a policy in the next few months, we would appreciate receiving a copy of that as well. Please send your policy to Rick Curneal, Legislative Director, at rcurneal@dmmc-cog.org. |
IDOT CALL FOR FY 2011 SAFETY PROJECTS IDOT has released a call for Highway Safety Improvement Projects (HSIP) for state FY 2011. HSIP funds can be used to reduce severe injuries and fatalities on all public roads. Specific site or system-wide improvements that reduce severe crashes are eligible for funding. Funds may be used to address safety issues independently without completely reconstructing entire roadway segments or intersections to all of the latest policies and standards. If enabling legislation is passed and signed by Congress, approximately $6 million will be available in July 2010. A minimum local match of 10% is required.
Proposed projects should be submitted to the IDOT District One Bureau of Local Roads and Streets office no later than April 16, 2010. Local agencies will be notified of their selection by the department. Detailed guidelines can be found online by clicking on the HSIP Policy: Safety 1-06 link. This website also contains information describing the benefit/cost methodology and HSIP candidate form.
Any questions regarding the benefit/cost methodology should be directed to Dave Piper at (217) 785-0720. Other program questions may be directed to Leigh Ann Lareau at (217) 785-5178. |
