At first glance, maybe they're not as enticing as a fresh ear of corn or juicy tomato, but if you learned one thing in Kindergarten it is that beauty comes from within, and root vegetables are a testament to that. Roasted, mashed, grilled, boiled, or braised, root vegetables are the tastiest way to warm a winter evening, and are available at Greenmarkets throughout the city all winter long.

Nice Catch!

We're fans of ceviche and grilled fish in the summer, but chowders, seafood stew, and scallops are all wonderful in the middle of the winter and pair well with a pile of fingerling potatoes. Liza de Guia of food. curated recently followed along with Greenmarket fisherman Phil Carlin of PE&DD Seafood to capture a day in his life at sea. Watch her excellent video here.
