"Treasures of Tomorrow"

North Wasco County School District #21 Education Foundation is holding an auction of "Oldies and Goodies" on May 7th, 2011.

 

The auction will take place at TDWHS, 3601 W. 10th Street, The Dalles. Doors open at 8:30AM with the auction starting at 10AM. Morgan Auctioneers of The Dalles will do the selling. Food will be provided by The Dalles Lion's Club.

 

Auction proceeds will go toward the creation and sustainment of an agriculturally focused science course at TDWHS, as part of the Foundation's mission to bring hands-on learning experiences tied  to agriculture to our students.

The Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) , a nonprofit organization, will welcome the community to the OCDC The Dalles Center on Tuesday, May 3 for an open house, 40th Anniversary Celebration!

The Dalles Center provides a variety of programs and services, including Migrant Head Start, Seasonal Head Start and Migrant Education Preschool.

Celebration will showcase the facility, classrooms, programs and staff. It is open to the public. This is OCDC's third facility to host and celebrate the organization's 40th Anniversary.

Fort Dalles Days Committee

Fort Dalles Days will be held July 8-17. And even though we are that far away from those dates, event planning has already begun.

The kick-off event will be the arrival of the David Thompson Voyageur Brigade, an international group of 150 voyageurs recreating the journey made by David Thompson in 1811.

FREE Boat Inspections
For those on the Columbia River
Starting April 30th, 2011
 

 


A group of federal, state, local and tribal agencies will offer FREE boat safety inspections at several location along the Columbia River this spring and summer.

Inspections will be conducted from 7AM to 11AM on the following dates:
  • April 30 @ Columbia Hills State Park, located off Washington State Hwy 14 @ milepost 85, about 2 miles upriver from The Dalles Dam.
  • July 9 @ LePage Park, located off Interstate Hwy 84 @ Exit 114, about 5 miles upriver from John Day Dam.
  • August 6 @ Maryhill State Park, located off U.S. Hwy 97, across the river from Biggs Junction, OR.

Agency representatives will also educate boaters about equipment requirements, rules of the river and water safety practices.
