Stand out with Oregon's NCRC National Career Readiness Certificate
Oregon's National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a hiring tool that helps employers identify qualified job applicants. Individuals who earn a certificate have demonstrated the foundational skills critical to succeed in nearly every job.
These skills are: Applied Math, Reading for Information and Locating Information.
Oregon's NCRC can be incorporated into an organization's existing hiring practices. As an objective measure, it is used as one factor in many to help determine an applicant's fit for a job.
Oregon's NCRC is guided by a partnership of public and private leaders, and will be available statewide by the end of 2010.

Struggling Homeowners Have A New Resource OHSI's MPA Program - Online
Homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgages due to unemployment or a significant loss in income can turn to a new online resource: www.oregonhomeownership.org
This new website will be the home to the Oregon Homeownership Stabilization Initiative's (OHSI's) Mortgage Payment Assistance (MPA) program.
Under the program, the state will play the mortgages of selected applicants for as long as a year to a $20,000 maximum.
At this website, homeowners can learn more in detail about the MPA program, see if they may be eligible, and sign up for regular program updates.
OHSI has also identified Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC), an affiliate of Mid Columbia Housing Authority, to help homeowners in Hood River, Sherman and Wasco Counties navigate the application process.
Homeowners can reach CCHC's MPA Program at 1.877.503.6127. If you need immediate help, call the Homeowner's HOPE Hotline at 1.888.955.HOPE (4673).

DID YOU
KNOW?
"A dollar spent at a locally owned store is usually
spent 6-15 times before it leaves the community. From $1, you create $5-$14 in
value within your community."
"Spend $1 at a national chain store and
80% of it leaves town immediately."
