Sister City: Visiting, with numbers December 14 - 19, 2010 Need Help with Hosting
We are about to have the largest group to ever visit The Dalles coming from Japan!
They arrive December 14 and depart December 19. Arrival time will be mid-day. Transportation from and to the airport has been arranged.
There are a number of home stay opportunities for anyone interested. They involve the following:

Some activities have been planned: An assembly or time in class at the middle school and dress rehearsal for the Christmas Concert of the Gorge Winds Band. Other activities to be considered include a day at the mountain.

"Photos with Santa" in November Starting Friday, November 26th Additional Dates in December
Wonderworks Children's Museum of the Gorge continues it's over 25-year old tradition of offering photos with Santa!
The first date is after the Starlight Parade on Friday, November 26th, 2010 in downtown The Dalles. Additional times will be from 1-4PM on Saturdays before Christmas (Dec. 4th - 18th).
All pictures will take place at the Transportation Center located at 201 E. Federal Street and are instantly ready to take home with you. There is a suggested donation of $5 per picture with all picture proceeds to benefit Wonderworks.
There will be sleigh rides with Santa, sponsored by the Downtown Business Association.

Reality Tour, a YouthThink event, is an innovative drug prevention & awareness program that takes you into the life of a teen involved with alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs.
The experience is appropriate for ages 10 and up when accompanied by a parent.
Dramatic portrayal of a teen on drugs - from Arrest & Detention to Overdose & Death - is what too many families have experience in real life.
The cost to attend is just $5 per family. Due to facility limitations, the program is open to the first 40 registered participants.

FREE Training for Oregon Businesses 1-hour training course on the new Oregon Domestic Violence Victims Leave Law
Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and John Hopkins University are offering Oregon business supervisors a FREE and confidential, 1-hour training on the new Oregon Domestic Violence Victims Leave Law.
The impact of domestic violence on workplace safety and productivity will also be discussed.
Training will include information on policy, Oregon employment laws, response tools and resources for domestic violence victims.
Training performed at your business, at a time convenient to you. Participants will be entered into a lottery for a chance to win a $25, $50 or $100 gift card.

Round-Up Fans Create Their Own Photo Album Submission Deadline: Dec. 15, 2010 Location: Tamástslikt Cultural Institute
Attendees, participants, and fans, who celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Pendleton Round-Up, are invited to submit their photos in order to create a community-based multimedia exposition.
A multimedia show produced in the form of an electronic slide show, complete with a locally produced soundtrack, will be shown in the Tamástslikt theater on January 13, 2011 with the accepted images.
Everyone is invited to send up to three (3) digital photos that capture this year's anniversary excitement. The photos should be personal in showing family and friends celebrating the culture of the famous Round-Up and the tribal component that makes it unique.
Photos must be sent electronically to: Randall.Melton@tamastslikt.org. They should be of high quality. The deadline is December 15, 2010.
