Raptor Program Volunteer Orientation Saturday, October 23rd @ The Discovery Center
Saturday morning, from 9:30-11AM, The Discovery Center will hold volunteer-training for their popular Raptor Program.
Potential volunteers are encouraged to meet for refreshments and an orientation in the museum's Boardroom.
Volunteer duties consist of cleaning indoor and outdoor enclosures, preparing food, weighing the raptors, record-keeping, and transporting birds on the glove. The highlight of each shift is a public presentation to visitors from all over the world, at 11AM and 2PM, Monday through Friday.
The Discovery Center asks for a minimum commitment of 3 hours a week, for 6 months.
Volunteers will be guided in methods of safe handling, with much one-on-one training, and progress at their own chosen pace. They are encouraged to research the birds.
When fully trained, volunteers enjoy conducting their own 30 minute programs. The raptor shows are both entertaining and informative.

DID YOU
KNOW?
"A dollar spent at a locally owned store is usually
spent 6-15 times before it leaves the community. From $1, you create $5-$14 in
value within your community."
"Spend $1 at a national chain store and
80% of it leaves town immediately."
