 April 2010
Spring is in the Air!
With warm weather here and the winter behind us, we are feeling energized, renewed, and ready to get to work!  This month's newsletter brings you up to speed on the Board's recent activities, plus gives you an activity to do with your kids guaranteed to make Mom's (and Dad's) Day extra special!
Board Notes
In the Fall, the Board and Advisory Committee for Play With Words met. It is the first time we have all gathered to discuss the impact that PWW can have on our community and the children in our lives. The reception to the project has been very enthusiastic and we're looking to keep up the momentum as we move through 2010.

Energized by our lively conversation, we left the meeting with specific goals to achieve. This year we are focusing on detailed strategic planning, a big fundraising push, and several fun public events over the summer and fall.

We're also looking to add a few key players to our group.  In particular we'd like to have someone with a business background who focuses on small businesses or non-profits on our Board or Advisory Committee.  If you know anyone who would be interested, or if you'd like to get involved in any aspect of our planning process, please contact us at museum@playwithwords.org.

Mom's (and Dad's) Day Keepsakes
family readingFor Mother's Day and Father's Day, what better gift than a book about what makes them special?

Have your child finish sentences such as:

My favorite thing to do with Mommy/Daddy is...
My Mommy's/Daddy's favorite thing to do at home is...
My Mommy/Daddy loves it when I...
My favorite book that Mommy/Daddy reads with me is...
The silliest thing Mommy/Daddy does is...

Depending on the child's age, he or she can write the word(s) that finish the sentence, or can write the entire sentence, or can dictate the answers for you to write down.

Make each sentence its own page and have your child decorate the page (good for very young children), or draw a picture that matches the answers, or attach a photograph your child takes of that specific activity.

It will be great fun to hear what your child has to say, and will be a wonderful keepsake for years to come!
