Happy Christmas!

In our last newsletter of the year it is worth reflecting on 2011, a year which has seen many highlights for Cowes. These include a vintage year for events together with significant new sponsorship to a new Cowes RNLI station that is now under construction.

The Commission has also ended the year on a very positive note with the proposed development of the the old Sugar Store at Shepards Wharf and initial plans to upgrade the pontoons in the Town Quay, which we hope to be delivering in 2012. These are both part of our ongoing mission to invest in the harbour and its facilities.

All of this progress is down to the hard work of individuals, organisations and businesses in and around Cowes. The work and dedication of so many, from Chairmen and Commodores to teams of staff, all striving to deliver the very best harbour services and yachting experience on the south coast.

I'd like to personally thank the Commissioners together with my team at Cowes Harbour Authority and take this opportunity of wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and successful "Olympic" New Year!

Best Regards,

Boxing Day Race

Cowes 2011 finishes off in true sailing style with the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club Boxing Day race.

This excellent event is definitely for the heroic & foolhardy, taking its place as one of the least forgiving days in the sailing calendar.  Freezing cold, wintry showers and blue fingers all in the offing, mollified by copious amounts of mulled wine and a charity raffle.  For full details please contact www.ccyc.org.uk
