Layton Home Fashions was founded in 1954 by Irvin Layton in Portland to manufacture home textile products.  In 1989 Irv's sons, Jeff and Larry Layton, took over management of the company when annual sales were about three million - sales have subsequently increased by ten-fold.

 

In addition to a modern manufacturing and distribution facility in Portland, the company also maintains a showroom in the 295 5th Avenue Textile Building in New York.  Layton Home Fashions manufactures a wide range of products under the Newport label including comforters, bedspreads, duvet covers, pillow shams, bed skirts, window treatments, decorative pillows, tabletop accessories and bathroom accessories.  Product information is available at the company's website.

 

Customers of Layton Home Fashions are primarily major retailers such as Sears, JC Penney, Dillard's, Fred Meyer, and Bloomingdales.  The goal of Layton Home Fashions is to offer innovative high fashion, high quality products at very competitive prices - with products made in the USA.

 

Layton Home Fashions uses Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) that is integrated with AddonSoftware to electronically handle transactions with their customers.  "Before EDI, we would manually type-in hundreds of customer orders into the system every week!  It was costly, time consuming, inefficient and prone to errors," says President Larry Layton. "The EDI integration has reduced our data entry errors, eliminated mountains of paperwork and streamlined our order entry processing from days to minutes. The whole process is nearly invisible and very smooth - new orders now flow into our computer system automatically."
