Melvin's Journey to Regaining Independence
Melvin Irvin had become accustomed to the on-again-off-again arthritic pain in his right knee. But after a work-related accident, simple everyday activities, such as gardening, turned into painful and sometimes impossible feats and Melvin didn't know how he was going to keep up with everyday life.
"At 55 years young, I never thought I would be in a situation where I would no longer enjoy a full life and the activities I love," said Melvin. "I knew I had a long life ahead of me and I wanted to lead an active, pain-free and full life."
That is when Melvin decided it was time to seek advice from an orthopedic specialist and was immediately referred to a physician with Henry Mayo's Joint Replacement program. Click here for Melvin's full story.
