Fundraiser Helps Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Wine lovers are invited to join us for an exceptional wine tasting reception at Salt Creek Grille in Valencia on October 6th from 6 to 8 pm. Benefiting the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center, this annual event features mouthwatering appetizers and desserts prepared by the restaurant's chef to complement an assortment of red and white wines hand-selected by the restaurant's master sommelier.

This fun-filled evening is just one of several events planned this October to help the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation and Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center raise awareness of the importance of mammograms for early breast cancer detection.

Donor Spotlight: Alissa Myatt
AM

An employee at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital since 2006, Alissa Myatt, LCSW, Social Services, supports the hospital through philanthropy. Myatt feels grateful to work in an environment where people have a chance to make a difference in someone's life and she is happy to give back to the community in which she lives.

"I feel grateful to have the chance to give back to the patients I work with and to make someone's life a little better," Myatt said. "With the ICU, for example, families have told me many times how calming the design of the new ICU is to them during a traumatic time, and I'm proud that my contributions were partly responsible for that. It feels good."

Myatt keeps two quotes in her pocket that inspire her each day: "No act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted" (Aesop), and "We can do no great things - only small things with great love" (Mother Teresa).
