Caring for Santa Clarita's Tiniest Patients

State-of-the-Art NICU to be Completed in December

Construction on Henry Mayo's first-ever neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is on-schedule and anticipated to be completed in December 2011.

The NICU will be led by a board certified neonatologist and a team of nationally certified nurses who will oversee the specialized care and monitoring of our tiny patients.  These experts, in collaboration with respiratory care specialists, social workers, pharmacists and occupational therapists, will provide a full continuum of care and support for newborns and their parents.

The completion of the state-of-the-art facility, funded in part by a generous donation from Kim and Steven Ullman, is an important part of the hospital's expansion plan as we grow to serve our community.

The new unit will solidify Santa Clarita as a destination of choice for young families.  It strengthens our entire community by keeping mothers, fathers and their newborns together at a most critical time.

Breast Imaging Grant to Benefit Women

Financial Assistance Available for Life-Saving Screenings

Funding received from two grants totaling $40,000 will allow the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center to provide breast cancer screening, diagnostic procedures and education to our community on the importance of breast health.

As a result of these generous grants from the Los Angeles County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Boston Scientific Foundation, the Breast Imaging Center will be able to provide additional low and/or no-cost screenings and diagnostic procedures to those in our community who cannot afford early detection procedures.  In addition, the funds will allow for the purchase of educational materials and community educational presentations that support life-saving prevention and early detection.
