Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Grand Opening!
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the grand opening of the Wayne and Connie Spears 18-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on June 2, 2010 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. The completion of this state-of-the-art facility is an important part of the hospital's expansion as it will improve our ability and capacity to care for the communities most critically ill and injured patients. The new ICU will be staffed by a specialized, multidisciplinary team and will provide around-the-clock treatment, diagnosis, interventions, individualized care and monitoring for patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The unit will include 18 private-patient rooms, a comfortable and private waiting area for patients' families and friends, as well as a family conference room and a dedicated elevator to allow easy access from the emergency department and the hospital's imaging services. In addition, each room will feature wireless internet access for family members and has been decorated to bring the sense of the outdoors into each room in an effort to aid in the recovery of patients. While the new ICU will provide state-of-the-art medical care for critically ill patients, it has also been designed to make family and friends of patients as comfortable as possible during times of extreme emotional stress. Once the new ICU is officially opened, the hospital will begin work on building a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 11 beds to treat premature and sick newborn babies. Plans for the NICU have been developed and are awaiting approval from the State of California. Slated to open in 2011, the project will upgrade Henry Mayo's current maternity services, providing comprehensive care for new moms and babies who need extra attention. We encourage the community to join in this momentous celebration... as our only community hospital Grows to Serve You Better.

Expansion Construction Now Underway

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that construction has begun on the hospital's new parking structure and helipad which will alleviate parking constraints and allow for the hospital to provide urgent medical services to patients suffering life threatening injuries. Guidelines and procedures, such as alternative parking arrangements for hospital staff, volunteers and students along with strict hours of operation for hauling materials have been implemented to minimize impact to the community during construction. The return of the hospital's helipad is a critical piece of the medical center expansion as it will allow Henry Mayo to retain its status as the only trauma center designated to serve the Santa Clarita Valley. With this designation, the hospital can provide immediate and comprehensive emergency medical services to patients suffering traumatic injuries - thereby giving victims the best possible chance for survival and recovery. As for the new parking structure, it will provide 750 spaces on the hospital campus and is being constructed on the property along McBean Parkway at Avenida Navarre. The structure and helipad should be completed in approximately one year. In addition to construction efforts currently underway, the hospital expansion will include the addition of an inpatient hospital building that will provide up to 120 new beds, an intensive care and neonatal intensive care unit, expanded imaging services, more surgery suites, parking expansion and medical office buildings to help support the development of "Centers of Excellence."
