Join the Southeastern Horticultural Society for a members-only private tour of the Smith-Gilbert Gardens with garden creator Bob Gilbert. Enjoy over 3,000 plant specimens and 30 contemporary sculptures. For more details of this sanctuary, click here.
The day will start with a brief presentation by Bob Gilbert on the history of the garden. We will then divide into small groups (10 -12) to insure the best tour experience. Tours are conducted by trained docents with an intimate knowledge of the Gardens. After the tour we will reconvene for an informal lunch provided by Fresh Market. There is not a formal picnic area so we ask that you bring a folding chair or picnic blanket to use during lunch. Also, bring umbrellas in case of rain; this is a rain or shine event.
It is suggested that tour participants wear good, sturdy walking shoes (the paths are informal mulched paths in a woodland setting), carry water, bring a camera and a pad of paper for notes, if desired.
Carpooling is not only an Eco-Bright Idea, it's encouraged by Smith-Gilbert Gardens. For a map & directions, click here.
Strollers are not allowed, and this tour may be inappropriate for children under the age of 5. At this time, the Gardens are not ADA accessible.
