Our Legacy Grows
The Legacy Garden Program began in 1994 in order to share the resources and high quality plant material of the Flower Show with a community in need of a garden. Our commitment to education and sharing horticulture techniques and knowledge while engaging members of the community in creating healthy beautiful and sustaining environments is realized in the Legacy Gardens. The 2009 Legacy Garden recipient is Skyland Trail's South Residential Facility, a mental health facility that promotes recovery from serious mental illness that impairs thinking and behavior. Legacy Garden Chair and former Flower Show Chair, Nan Henson says, "The Legacy Garden will help provide a portion of Skyland Trail with a therapeutic greenspace and healing garden."
We invite you to join us on Saturday, February 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Skyland Trails to assist with the installation of materials donated by the generous landscapers and exhibitors of the 2009 Flower Show.
Come for some of the time or all...just be sure to bring your gardening gloves, shovels, trowels, etc. and wear work shoes and clothes as we get to planting!
Skyland Trail South Facility is located at 1709 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30030. For directions, click here. Please park in the Georgia State Laboratory Parking lot adjacent to Skyland Trail.
