Church Covenant
Love is the doctrine of this church,
The quest for truth is its sacrament,
And service its prayer.
To dwell together in peace,
To seek knowledge in freedom,
To serve human need,
To the end that all souls shall grow into harmony with the Divine -
Thus do we covenant with each other and with God. |

Weekly Meditation
Beyond Name, Closer than Breath,
Eternal Breath of the Universe,
we awaken each day to a visible order
of reality characterized by separateness;
but we choose again today to root our lives
in the invisible order of reality
that permeates and supports the visible.
We choose again today,
in the midst of illusion and chaos,
to see the universal harmony
and to live in consciousness that
at the deepest level all is one.
Therefore, with gratitude and courage,
we welcome this day and gently release
our expectations of what today ought to be -
and open ourselves to loving what shall be. |

Welcome to the Weekly Update
With the TIMES going to a monthly format the church is looking for ways to send out more timely information. Starting this week we will send an e-mail out that is very much like this one.
It will have a couple of features. The first feature you will see is above this article. That space will have a weekly prayer, meditation or inspirational words. The next will be announcements of special events or late breaking news about the church. Then there will be information about the Sunday at the church. This will include links to the video and audio recordings of the previous weeks service, the theme for the next weeks service, information about some of the music that will be played and what will be happening in religous education that week. The final section will be a calendar of events for that upcoming week.
We at the church hope that you will find this weekly update on what is happening at the church useful information. However, we also understand if you do not want one more e-mail cluttering up your inbox. Below you will find instructions on how to remove yourself from the e-mail list and this e-mail will stop coming to you. Conversely if you like the e-mail and you know of fellow members of the church who are not getting it or have friends and family who might be interested in learning more about the church, feel free to forward this e-mail to them. There is a link below that will allow you to do that. In future e-mails it will include a link to where those folks can subscribe themselves.
Again we hope you find this a helpful addition to the communications that come to the church. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact our Membership & Volunteer Coordinator, Jesse Jaeger, at jjaeger@uucgl.org or 781-595-8836 ext. 24. |

What is Happening on Sunday
Last Week:
If you missed this Sunday's service or would like to revisit Rev. Knight's sermon you can listen to or view the sermon by clicking on the appropriate link below.

Next Week
Worship
Next weekend the Rev. Vann Knight will be preaching and the sermon title will be The Power of Family. Rev. Knight will explore the family's power to bless, curse and restore.
The choir's anthem will be a setting by Jane Marshall (b.1924) of a poem by the 13th-century mystic poet, Hadewijck of Antwerp. Hadewijck may have been the head of a community of Beguines, women who lived together in simplicity and service during the time of St. Francis of Assisi. The anthem is simple, well-crafted and fluid and Hadewijck's text is completely relevant to us today.
Religious Education
Crib Room: Loving care provided for childred six months through three years old. Caregivers: Jayne Leahy and Louise Gallo
Preschool: With story, worship, and activities children explore February holidays at church and beyond. Led by preschool teacher Patty Lowell.
Workshop Rotation for Kindergarten thru 6th Grade: The themes being explored are stories of Jesus and the Transformational Power of Love.
- Kindergarten: The Tree of Zaccheus is created in Art (Seeing the Story) with those attributes of goodness which may be hidden among the leaves, or deep within a human heart.
- 1st & 2nd Grades: The story of Zaccheus is told in Drama (Telling the Story) with special sets created by this workshop. We imagine what the scene must have looked like in the time before jumbotrons.
- 3rd & 4th Grades: The story of Zaccheus is explored in Worship (Celebrating the Story) with song and movement, ending with a celebratory 'tea' with Zaccheus and a lot of wondering about life in the 'Holy Land' then and now.
- 5th & 6th Grades: The challenges of love and compassion are examined in Social Action (Living the Story) with materials from "Respect for All" and some of our own ideas about reaching out across differences.
Our Whole Lives for 7th & 8th Grades: A faith-based comprehensive sexual education program. The program runs until late spring.
Coming of Age for 9th, 10th and 11th Grades: They are preparing for their worship service on March 8th.
