Movember
November - the hairy month...aka Movember.
Bruce's mo
GoGet Co-Founder, Bruce, with an impressive effort from a few year's ago.

If it wasn't in aid of a good cause...

Movember raises money for men's health, specifically for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and for beyondblue: the national depression initiative, so we just have to put up with the sight of thousands of men growing moustaches with varying degrees of success. Thankfully, it's only for a month. (Although we have heard of men growing fond of their hairy friend and leaving it on for a few more weeks. Our advice: get a pet.)

We want any GoGet members to send in pics of themselves (or partners, colleagues etc) with their moes next to a GoGet car. And the member with the best mo will win $500 to donate to Movember.

So get growing and send in your pics. And remember, shave it off on the 1st of December!
Transport for Suburbia - Win a free copy!
TransportFor all you transport or urban planning boffins out there, if you haven't read Transport for Suburbia: Beyond the Automobile Age you're missing out.

Written by Paul Mees from RMIT, the book debunks the myth that you can only have effective public transport in dense urban areas.

It argues that the secret of 'European-style' public transport lies in a model of network planning that has worked in places as diverse as rural Switzerland, the Brazilian city of Curitiba and the Canadian cities of Toronto and Vancouver. It shows how this model can be adapted to suburban, exurban and even rural areas to provide a genuine alternative to the car, and outlines the governance, funding and service planning policies that underpin the success of the world's best public transport systems.

We're giving away a free signed copy to the first 5 members who email us with the correct answer to:

Name which capital city in Australia has the fastest growing  public transport patronage (as a percentage) over the last ten years?

Email us your answer to win!

Tip of the month - Driving vans
van

When driving one of our popular HiAce vans, it's important to keep a few things in mind:
  • Visibility is different in a van. So prior to getting in the van, walk around it and take note of anything that could be an obstacle when driving away.
  • When driving around a corner, you should take the turn wider than you would in a normal car. This will prevent you driving over the curb and possibly sideswiping a pole etc.
  • Take corners and bends much slower. The vans centre of gravity is higher than in a car and you could end up knocking over all your neatly packed cargo.
That's it. We hope you keep enjoying using our vans. And we'll be adding more to the fleet soon.

Budgie-smuggler uncovered using GoGet!
Budgie
Have you seen a GoGet van passing through your suburb lately? Ever wondered what was inside?

Well this week one GoGet van is being used to transport 15 metre-plus portraits of the world's most stunning Budgerigars from the artist's home in Marrickville to the Iain Dawson Gallery in Paddington.

GoGet member Leila Jeffreys is holding her first photographic exhibition and you're invited to take a peak. If you know of any other rare and wonderful cargo hidden inside a GoGet van let us know.
