Segway Australia's first electric vehicle charging station

We're excited to announce the launch of Australia's first on-street electric car re-charging station.

In partnership with the City of Sydney and ChargePoint Australia GoGet members can now access a Plugin Hybrid Prius from a special bay at the Glebe, Derwent Place pod.

Clover launching ChargePoint
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP, launching Australia's first public electric vehicle charging station.

ChargepointThe charging station re-charges "Gus the Electric Prius" - our converted plug-in Prius - in only three hours using 100 percent renewable energy.

Gus has an electric motor range of 30km, which is 2km longer than 80% of regular GoGet trips, so for the vast majority of his trips, Gus produces exactly zero emissions. And after 30km it reverts to hybrid petrol-electric power.

To see it in action, check out GoGet co-founder Bruce Jeffreys on Channel 7's Sunrise program.

Gus the Electric Prius

We'll be monitoring Gus closely, and we're looking forward to adding more electric vehicles to the fleet as demand grows.
The Sixth Wave - Win a free copy!
The Sixth WaveElectric vehicle charging stations are all part of a new wave of innovation that author's James Bradfield Moody and Bianca Nogrady have termed "The Sixth Wave".

In their new book, "The Sixth Wave: How to succeed in a resource-limited world" - which features GoGet - they explore the five previous waves of innovation, and how they were shaped by market forces, technologies and the very glue that holds societies together.  It then looks at how we can learn from these to identify the sixth great wave.

The Sixth Wave is for anyone who is interested in thinking about what a sustainable future holds for humankind, and in understanding how the massive changes currently taking place in the world fit together.

We're giving away a free copy to the first 10 members who email us with the correct answer to:

What is the name of the period starting in the 18th century that marked a major turning point in human history?

Email us your answer to win!

New Feature - SMS booking confirmation
SMSYou can now access your booking information while on the go even more easily!

We can send you your booking confirmation via SMS.

The text message includes details of the car you have booked, its pod address and when your booking starts and ends.

It's perfect for those moments when, say, little Johnny is screaming his head off in the back seat and you can barely remember your name, let alone if your booking finishes at 3pm or 4pm.

It costs 25c per SMS. To activate SMS booking confirmation just go to My Membership and Bookings and select the SMS option.
Future of carsharing secure!
The future of carsharing seems secure if the 4 year old daughter of GoGetter Beck from Leichhardt is representative of future generations of drivers.

Apparently she walks up to non-GoGet cars in the street and says "Mummy, can we take this one - I like this one!"

"It's a bit tricky explaining why we can't take that one," Beck says, "And I find myself smiling at our society's warped sense of possession."

As Beck's daughter says, "Why can't we just borrow a car off the street if no-one is using it?"

Why not indeed? Out of the mouth of babes...
