Suzuki Alto wins Global Green Challenge

The Suzuki Alto has come top of its class in the Global Green Challenge.

In a 3000km journey from Darwin to Adelaide, the Alto achieved a fuel consumption of 3.91 litres per 100km.

And in the city streets portion of the event the Alto achieved a remarkable fuel economy of 2.03 L/100km, making it the perfect city runabout.

Not bad, but we wonder if the Toyota Prius can do better. After all, it is a hybrid-electric...

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your hybrid-engines!!

Get those competitive juices flowing and take GoGet's Toyota Prius Hypermiling Challenge.

Fuel consumptionHypermiling is the act of driving using techniques that maximise fuel economy. So the winner of our challenge will be the person who achieves the lowest (best) average fuel consumption while driving a hybrid Toyota Prius.

The winner will receive an "awesome" trophy, a T-shirt, and the chance to represent Australia!

It's really easy to take part. Just click here for instructions.
Invite - The Future Makers
Future MakersTo coincide with the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in early December, and to celebrate the expansion of GoGet in Randwick, we are putting on a free screening of the inspirational film "The Future Makers", at the Ritz Cinema in Randwick on the 9th of December.

The film showcases the ground breaking work being done by Australian scientists in the race to design sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels.

And please join us after the film for nibbles and a panel discussion with Eureka Prize winner and solar power scientist Nicole Kuepper from UNSW.

Bookings are essential! Click here for details.
Car sharing seminar

GoGet is continuing to work with councils and state governments to better integrate carsharing services into new communities, as a viable sustainable transport alternative for our growing cities.

We will be hosting a best practice seminar and planning workshop - "CarShare Australia: Update and Opportunities for sustainable cities" in Sydney on 1 December 2009.

The event, designed for transport and sustainability planners, policy makers and traffic engineers, will include:
  • Local and international case studies of and latest trends including electric technologies.
  • Showcase of recent carshare trials launched in partnership with councils, and the benefits to local communities
  • Exploring opportunities to better integrate carsharing schemes in new developments and existing communities.
  • Also on show will be our newly converted fully electric Toyota Prius, for an inspection under the bonnet and a test drive.
