  July 2009
It's been a busy month at GoGet. We have just launched Australia's first carsharing service in a suburban development in Adelaide and we have implemented a new pod messaging system that will make everyone's lives much easier.

Also in this month's news, we have an important story illustrating the dangers of city driving.
July Winter Special - 4 for 3
Thinking of going down to Melbourne this month? If so, pick up a GoGet car.

Book a Melbourne car for 4 days in July and only pay for 3!
Happy & popular Prius
Our five new hybrid-electric Toyota Prius have settled in to the GoGet family really well.

Thanks to everyone who voted to have one in their neighbourhood; they're very popular cars! The Sydney suburbs of Erskineville and Newtown received the most votes. We'll keep you updated on when one arrives near you.

And congratulations to Carolina from Chippendale. Carolina has won a free weekend away with a Prius for signing up a friend to GoGet last month.
New pod messaging system
We have introduced a great new time-saving system for members to let us know when they're unable to return a car to its pod because some (enter your favourite expletive) non-GoGet member has illegally parked in your pod.

From now on members can send us a quick text message, and we will let the next member know where the car is parked, saving everyone heaps of time.

All you have to do is include:
  1. The name of the car or its rego number,
  2. The street number and street name of where it is now parked.
So, for example, the text message should read:
  • Peter 12 Macleay St, or
  • ARV234 12 Macleay St

The number to text is 0427 777 769. We encourage everyone to save this number into their phones. (This number will only accept texts messages, not phone calls.)

We'll also be including the numbers for local councils in all the cars so that members can call rangers directly and "Dob in a Drongo". The rangers will go out and book anyone illegally parked in a pod.
Aussie first - Lightsview
In a sign of things to come, 'Lightsview' in Adelaide is the first application of carsharing in a suburban development in Australia.

It used to be an agricultural college and is now Adelaide's new eastern suburb, 8 kilometres from the centre of town.

And the Lightsview sales team will be driving around in a GoGet car showing houses to prospective buyers and demostrating carsharing to them.

The car is also available to the public.

New Cars and Pods

As mentioned, here is the new Adelaide pod:
- Adelaide - Lightsview - Northgate

And thanks to our council partners, we've added new cars into new pods in the following Sydney locations:

- Annandale - Nelson Street
- Coogee - Dolphin Street
- Neutral Bay - Park Avenue
- Pyrmont - Bunn Street

We have also added new cars to the following locations:

- Surry Hills - Albion Street
- Bondi - Gould Street (Prius replaces the Mini)
- Glebe - Cafe Church (A Mini)
- Kirribilli - Bligh St

GoGet member fleeced in the city

City roads are dangerous. Take GoGetter Michael Roseworn's experience in Sydney last month.

He was driving near Broadway during peak-hour when, seemingly out of nowhere, a sheep ran onto the road. Michael hit the brakes but was unable to avoid a collision.

Luckily for the sheep, Sydney's heavy traffic congestion meant Michael was only travelling at 20km/h. The sheep lay on the road stunned for a moment before regaining her composure. The only outward sign of injury was a bloody snout.

However, according to witnesses who saw the sheep running down the street before the collision, she was already bleeding from the mouth. After a thorough investigation it was revealed that the sheep sustained the injury after jumping from the first floor of the Sydney Uni Faculty of Veterinary Science building on Parramatta Road.Sheep

The RSPCA and the police were called, with at least two police cars attending the scene. The sheep was loaded into the back of a police paddy wagon and promptly returned to the university.

Both the sheep and Michael have made a full recovery from their ordeal.
If you have any feedback or questions about the service please drop us an email.

Thanks,

Nic and Bruce
