How is it that we can understand and justify the behavior of our children,  

 

            spouses, family members but yet when we see it displayed in  

 

             other families we find it deplorable and a shame that "they"  

 

             would even think that their behavior is acceptable, especially  

 

             when "EVERYONE ELSE" (untrue conclusion) knows that  

 

              it is not acceptable?  

 

 

 

 

 

How can we do for some and not for others?  

 

The reason we can embrace some people but not others is because the most important element needed for any  

 

                        healthy relationship is missing; that being LOVE!  

 

 

The reason we are patient with some people and not with others is  

because of self-centeredness, pride, and spiritual immaturity in that area!

The quality of our love is what monitors our interactions with others. 

 

It will determine if we are patient and compassionate; choose to see   

 

              the good in others and not just harp on their negative traits,  

 

                  which unfortunately allow us to overlook our own faults!  

 

 

Love is so important to demonstrate for it assures our obedience to   

 

                  all other commandments of the Lord God.  

  

 

 

  

Matthew 22:36- Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?  

 

                 V. 37- Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  

 

 

                     V. 38- This is the first and great commandment.  

 

 

                   V. 39- And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  

 

 

                    V. 40- On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.  

 

 

These verses encourage us to love God with everything that we have and to love others as we love ourselves.

Scholar David Guzik expounds that it means "that in the same way  we take  

 

             care of ourselves and are concerned about our own  

 

             interests, we should take care and have concern for the  

 

             interests of others."

     

 

 

Scholar Adam Clark defines it as: "This love for our neighbor is a love of fairness, assistance, comfort, and kindness.  

 

 

                  We owe to our neighbor what we have a right to expect  

 

             from him - "Do unto all men as ye would they should do unto  

 

                   you," which is a positive command of our blessed Savior.

 

 

  By this rule, therefore, we should speak, think, and write, concerning  

 

           every soul of man: - put the best construction upon all the words  and actions of our neighbor that they can possibly bear."

Clark continues expounding that "By this rule we are taught to bear with,  love, and forgive him; to rejoice in his happiness,  

 

 

                   mourn in his adversity, desire and delight in his prosperity, and promote it to   

 

 

                          the utmost of our power: instruct his ignorance, help him in his weakness,   

 

 

and risk even our life for his sake, and for the public good.  

 

   

In a word, we must do everything in our power, for our neighbors, which we would wish them to do for us,  

 

                                  were our situations reversed."  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When we find that we are not demonstrating "The Missing Element" of Love; we must admit our sin in this area,  

 

 

                     repent and pray for God to help us to cultivate the quality of love FOR EVERYONE as we should.  

 

 

 

While we will not fall in love with everyone we encounter, we should display love and respect to all which will govern our  

 

                             actions toward them.

Dear Dr. Lewis, Thank you for blessing my heart with your awesome message today. There is so much wisdom to take in from your newsletters. The amazing stories, inspiring video clips, and current events are all resources I truly appreciate. Thanks a million for your continued mission. I was deeply touched by the Pastor who inspired the students with his own story and wisdom. Having no arms and feet is in itself an obstacle. Yet, he is not limited by his circumstances. I know God gives us all gifts. Mine is teaching and mentoring students in the classroom, among other things. Whether or not LAUSD fires us all, I will continue following my dreams anyhow. They recently sent layoff letters to us all. God has it all under his control. Keep preaching and teaching, Dr. Lewis. I always read your newsletters. I am waiting for the next one.
