You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!

Volume 160                  January 22, 2012

  Greetings!

You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!  (1of 5)

The biblical story of Joseph (Genesis 37-46), teaches us invaluable lessons as to how we should behave during very difficult times.

When Adam yielded to Satan's temptation to disobey God; it ushered in sin and its unmerciful effect upon mankind.

We today are also guilty today of perpetuating the effect of sin on others and ourselves when we yield to Satan's temptations to disobey God.

As a result, life is definitely filled with unfair judgments, actions, pain, tears, trials and tribulations!

But even in the midst of that, we can have the restful peace and faith to know that God yet works out His  magnificent plans in and for our lives!

While God can't prevent our horrible experiences due to the reign of sin; He has promised to be with us, never to leave us alone.

That is displayed over and over in Joseph's life.

You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!  (2 of 5)

As a teenager Joseph was abruptly separated from the loving relationship he experienced with his father.

Although he loved his brothers; they did not express love for him by selling him into slavery, which took him over 200 miles from home.

We can only imagine the loneliness, emotional and physical pain that Joseph experienced as a result of their actions.

After being falsely accused, Joseph was thrown into prison and spent a number of years there.

However, God was with him and surrounded him with success and favor (Genesis 39:2, 21).

Joseph honored, trusted and reverenced God!

Therefore, Joseph was able to endure whatever he experienced for he knew that God was with him.

So, when he was finally reunited with his brothers over 20 years later, he was not bitter toward them and said :( Genesis 45:5-(NLT) But don't be upset, and don't be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place.

It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. V. 7-God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors.

V 8-So it was God who sent me here, not you! And He is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh-the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.

Yes, his brothers had sold Joseph, but God had sent him!

You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!   (3 or 5)

God knew the horrible journey Joseph would travel, but all along God had an awesome plan to use Joseph in spite of his horrible experience.

We are told in Romans 8:28 how all things work together for our good when we love the Lord and continue in His will.

image God loves me

This means many of our experiences won't be good at the onset into our lives; but the end result will be awesome!

God yet has a plan for our lives in spite of what we experience!

A quote by Victoria Holt suggests: "Never regret. If it's good, it's wonderful.

If it's bad, it's experience." While one might disagree with the first part of the quote, the latter can certainly be embraced.

God was using Joseph's difficulties to place him in position to greatly impact the lives of many people.

Psalms 37:23-The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD... God orders our steps into productive, fruitful paths.

John 15:5 (NLT)- Jesus said-"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

Fruit on Vine

While we desire to think God will not allow us to experience the pain of unfortunate situations, He will, so that the glory of the situation can be manifested and experienced not just by ourselves but COUNTLESS others.

We are reminded of this from the agony of Jesus' cross which was for our glory to be restored back to the Lord God.

God blessed Joseph with a good life, wife, children, favor, success, promotions, and authority in spite of the bad he experienced.

"You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!" We can say this in a sense to Adam and Jesus can also say this in a sense to us.

You Sold Me, But God Sent Me!  (5 of 5)

How many times do we sell ourselves into difficult and painful situations by the choices we make, by not abiding in obedience to  the Lord's Word and

keeping our flesh and Satan under subjection in our lives?

As people who truly love the Lord, we will trust His awesome outcome from our difficult experiences.

Thank You Lord that Your Grace brings us out of every difficult situation!

Thank you Lord that You have a magnificent plan for our lives which also includes using our lives to bless others!

Thank you Lord that if we keep our eyes on You, we will experience Psalms 58:10 (NLT)- The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged....

V. 11-Then at last everyone will say, "There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth."

HELLO DR. LEWIS, MY NAME IS REV. E J. J. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I REALLY ENJOY YOUR UP LIFTING WORD.

Thank you, Dr. Lewis for the message.  I believe and trust in God's blessed promises and His blessed assurances.  These are part of my daily motto. Thank you and God bless!!! Minister K C

For me its staying away from gossip, especially at work.  Someone starts a conversation about another person that's not in the group and talk negative things...which I do not like being a part of. Then they ask me do I feel the same way....I don't want to say nothing, because I know the moment I say something, they will go back and tell that person what I said and its gonna cause a confutation. I'm a very soft spoken and truthful, I don't like hurting people's feelings...I wear my heart on my shoulders...which sometimes I know I get taken advantage of others.  There are sometimes I want to let people know...you get on my nerves, you a liar, but I keep it to myself.  The Lord knows our hearts and our thoughts...and I try to do my best to do what's right.  The Lord is AWESOME....and I pray that He strengthens me day by day! I really like the message of this Newsletter, "How's your Integrity"!   F M
