How's Your Integrity?

Volume 158                  January 8, 2012

  Greetings!

   How's Your Integrity?   (1of 5)

One definition of "Integrity" is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

This means to have a trust-worthy character even if it would be "easy" to do the wrong thing!

courtroom

We must live to establish reputations as upright and mature adults, which would motivate others to plead

our case in a court of law if necessary.

We are constantly surrounded with temptations to make wrong decisions and to only be concerned with

what will satisfy our OWN SELF regardless of the price and effect it has on others.

As for all aspects of life; the Bible gives us examples and results of decisions in how we choose to live our lives!

   How's Your Integrity?   (2 of 5)

One such example is found in Genesis 39:6 NLT-So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned.

With Joseph there, he didn't worry about a thing-except what kind of food to eat!

V. 6-Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man,

v. 7- and Potiphar's wife soon began to look at him lustfully. "Come and sleep with me," she demanded.

don't open the door

V. 8- But Joseph refused. "Look," he told her, "my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.

V. 9- No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife.

How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God."

V. 10- She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.

   How's Your Integrity?  (3 or 5)

In spite of Joseph's bitter past at the hands of his brothers and the difficulties he had experienced since being in Egypt, Joseph was a man of "Integrity".

Thus, God afforded him favor with Potiphar, the Captain of the guards, who placed him over his entire household.

Even with Joseph being very handsome and well-built, Potiphar knew Joseph's character and thus was not worried that Joseph would misbehave, EVEN WITH POTIPHAR'S WIFE.

not listening

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Potiphar's wife, who did not regard demonstrating "Integrity" or honoring the "Integrity" of others.

We must develop solid "Integrity" in our own lives for there will be others around us who will not promote integrity.

We must yet resist temptation!

Even though we read of sexual temptation confronting Joseph, these verses could also describe financial, professional, emotional and others forms of temptations we encounter.

                   How's Your Integrity?  (4 of 5)

"Integrity" guides us in making the right decisions and keeps us mindful of abiding in our proper places.

Such was with Joseph. He knew the parameter of his authority and what was off-limit to him; Potiphar's wife.

Therefore to her crafty and demanding invitation to "Come and sleep with me," Joseph could and did refuse.

Joseph also recognized to do so would be a wicked thing to do against Potiphar and more so a GREAT SIN AGAINST GOD!

As this wife continued to do with Joseph, Satan will pressure us to step away from what we know is right to do and to do that which would be A GREAT SIN against our Great God!

The conclusion of Genesis 39:11 tells us-One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.

lips

V 12- She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, "Come on, sleep with me!" Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.

Demonstrating "Integrity" in our lives won't protect us from experiencing lies and unfair actions as was the case with Joseph.

V. 19- Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife's story about how Joseph had treated her.

V. 20- So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king's prisoners were held, and there he remained.

Some might argue that the unfair consequences of Joseph's decisions not to yield would be reason to yield.

     How's Your Integrity?    (5 of 5)

But then in so doing, those persons won't experience the testimony of:

V.21- But the LORD was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the LORD made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

                  V. 22- Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison.

                  V. 23- The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The LORD was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.

praying man 2

Because Joseph maintained his honorable degree of "Integrity" and because God always honor our commitment to demonstrate  "Integrity"; Joseph eventually was promoted from the prison to the palace.

What is your degree of "Integrity"?

What is the testimony of others about your life because of what they have seen demonstrated through your actions?

Let us strive to be people who are known to live by moral principles and will deprive ourselves temporary pleasures to make right decisions to demonstrate trustworthy characters.

Remember, When no one else is looking, God is and God honors those who honors HIM!

Great message.  As I walk with God, have noticed that when you pray sincerely to have a positive and good things come to you, He first of all removes the bad people, bad elements, and bad and negatives  things out  of your life, than He replaces them with the good things, etc.

This has been my personal testimony many times.  Even when you did not specifically ask for the bad things in your life to be removed, but prayed for good and positives things.  God removes the bad and negative things because He does not want the good to mix the  the bad and therefore, tainting the good. That is the reason when I am going through challenges, I do not fret or get anxious.  I know my God is removing the bad things in my life to make room for good and better and bigger things to come.  What a blessing?  Glory be to Almighty God!! K C!

Good Morning Dr. T, I would like to ask you to please pray for my mother, Margaret Lewis,  she is VERY, VERY, ill.  She was brought in to the hospital on Christmas day.  They didn't think she would survive.  She has cancer in her stomach, and the tumor is obstructing some very vital areas of her body, (kidney function, ability to breath properly, she has a ventilator. her cell count is low).  The doctors have given her up.  But, I'm trusting God to do what the doctors can't.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PRAY!!!!!.  Thank you and God bless. P C
