What's Your Defense? (1 of 5)
As we travel the journey of life we will receive various verdicts and judgments that others both near and far will conclude about us!
Joshua 6:27-NLt-So the LORD was with Joshua, and his reputation spread throughout the land.
Judgments will be made whether people have the facts or not or if their judgments are valid!
In some instances yes, we are guilty of wrong choices made and rightfully earn the label of an undesirable reputation.
As the Bible states in Proverbs 24:8 NLT-A person who plans evil will get a reputation as a troublemaker.
In other instances we may be falsely be accused of actions we have not committed!
Unfortunately, we hear of individuals who have spent many years in prison, wrongfully convicted of crimes, and later found to be innocent of the charges.
David disgustingly inquired in Psalm 4:2- How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies?

What's Your Defense? (2 of 5)
Judgments are made of us in our various environments;
home, work, church, neighborhood, school, and our driving skills just to name a few.
Everyone makes assessments of others whether it is an informed or uninformed action.
We may use several resources in our attempt to defend our name and to dismiss false charges brought against us.
This includes eye witnesses, alibis and of course our personal VERBAL testimony.
Many of us are familiar with the saying: "Talk is Cheap".
We quickly draw conclusions based on hearing someone's defense in their attempt to sway and
impress with quick words rather than having their character examined!

Let's note the following experience:
An incident occurred where it was determined that a very valuable item was found to be missing from an inventory entrusted to a very reliable individual.
This person was directly responsible for the care and safeguarding of the item.
Upon discovery that the item was missing, several persons familiar with the incident attested that although it was unknown who had taken the valuable,
the original possessor of the item was not guilty of taking it!
This testimony sprang from knowing the person's character and reputation and their diligence to preserve the valuable.
Additionally added was a statement to the effect that great care had been taken to hide the item due to its value.
Again, even in this very unfortunate situation, the decision not to think ill of the person was due to
the already established righteous character of the person's heart.

It is often demonstrated that this person's desire is to do as God said of His reputation in
Ezekiel 39:25 NLT-for I jealously guard my holy reputation.
We must do all we can to maintain a holy reputation for when we devalue and lose it we are reminded in
Proverbs 25:10 NLT-you will never regain your good reputation.
A good reputation, excellent character, making wise choices, living soberly and exercising maturity are among the
resources we should develop in building our defense!
We should desire for our reputation to be described as it was for God's reputation in
Nehemiah 9:10-NKJV-So You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day. NLT-You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten.

Also as noted in
Nehemiah 13:13-NLT-These men had an excellent reputation and in
2 Samuel 14:2 NLT-So he sent for a woman from Tekoa who had a reputation for great wisdom.
Yes, talk is cheap!
However the character that has been established in a person's life cannot be disputed!
Therefore, we must remember and implement in our daily lives;
Proverbs 3:3-NLT -Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
V4-Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
Proverbs 22:1-NLT-Choose a good reputation over great riches; for being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 NLT--A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume.
Then, whenever and wherever it is needed, a godly and wholesome character will be
our defense even before we open our mouths to defend!

Even though I have been building my faith in God, this time of my life I am really challenged by many things/problems of the heart. But deep down I believe that God knows what He is doing!
