WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?

  Volume 137                                             August 14, 2011

  Greetings!

WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?

By nature, people always have opinions about how something should be done, if it should have been done and why something was not done!

The same is true of our evaluation of people! Matthew 7:1 records: Judge not, that ye be not judged. This command refers to rash, disapproving, critical and unjust judgment.

However, we still make judgments of people we know and persons we don't know, even if our judgments are misconstrued!

We can't prevent what might be said of us; however, we are to make sure we live honorable lives in submission and in obedience to the Word of the Lord God.

By so doing, we will be able to present to God as Hezekiah did in 2 Kings 20:3-"Remember, O LORD, how I have always

been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you." Then he broke down and wept bitterly.

"WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?" ( 2 pf 5)

Some scholars believe that Hezekiah's principle of prayer isn't fitting for a Christian today and that we should pray in

the name of Jesus (John 16:23-24) and not in the name of who we are or what we have done.

While there is truth in that thought, we still must acknowledge that we should be able to present honorable lifestyles unto the Lord,  as a direct result of how we live our lives.

man angel and devil

By so doing, we will have a great description from the Great Creator of the universe, the Lord of lords and King of kings.

It is our responsibility to strive for excellence in how we live our lives and to be people of integrity.

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and uprightness in one's actions values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes.

This does require effort and labor on our end; but the results will be well-worth it.

WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?  (3 pf 5)

Only as we strive to do "right and moral" actions in our lives will we overcome any erroneous opinions and proclamations of what people say!

Examples of integrity are finding money or any other lost items and attempting to return them back to their owners,

telling a cashier when he gives us back too much money,

not being a person who lies, steals, cheats or deceives in any area of life,

but being known as a trustworthy person.

honest person

Each of us should strive to have God describe us as He did of Job in Job 1:8-

Then the LORD asked Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless--a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.

In other words, Job was a wise and righteous man, deeply committed to the Lord.

God's blessing was obviously upon him. His reputation was unequaled as the "greatest of all men in the East" (Job 1:3).

Job was not only a godly man in public, but also in his private family life.

He believed His God was holy.

"WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?"  (4 of 5)

Therefore, Job was a priest who interceded for each of his ten children.

"Per Bible Scholar Gill," Job had so devoted himself to the Lord that God bragged and had a high character of him.

               He called him "my servant"; not a servant of men, living according to the lusts and will of men, their customs and styles of worship, superstition, and idolatry;

                      nor a servant of sin and the lusts of the flesh; nor of Satan, who boasted of the whole earth being his;

but Job was the Lord's servant, by the voluntary surrender of himself to the Lord.

The Lord here claims him as His property, acknowledges him as His servant, calls

Jesus embracing man

him by name, and gives an high and  honorable account of him:"

That there is none like him in the earth.

God smiled upon this man.

Job had been appointed to live an incredible season of prosperity.

It was a time to be joyful, but his joy was about to turn to sorrow.

However, true integrity will still stand tall and honorable amid the storms and sorrow of life.

WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT YOU?  (5 of 5)

Job 2:1- On another day ...Satan also came with them to present himself before Him.

This means that Satan came before the Lord after he had permission to afflict Job.

Although not certain, this may have been at least one year after the former meeting, during which time the true values and

integrity of Job had sufficient time to reveal themselves.

Thus in Job 2:3- NLT-Then the LORD asked Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job?

He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless-a man of complete integrity.

integrity

He fears God and stays away from evil.

And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause."

God implied the same character of Job, which is here continued and confirmed, with an addition to it;

for Job was no loser, but a gainer in his character by his afflictions and trials: and still he holdeth fast his integrity.

We must develop our integrity so that even in tough times people will ask us as Job's wife asked him in

Job 2:9-...Dost thou still retain thine integrity?

Family lets choose to love and submit to the Lord God and allow Him to cultivate integrity in us reflecting His Spirit, mind and the desire to do the right things!
