" Who Are You Pleasing?" ( 1 of 5)
It is impossible for our actions not to impact others; either pleasing or offending them.
This certainly includes our Great God, oneself or Satan being pleased or offended by our actions.
By nature we are self-centered people whose primary message to others is: "It's All About ME!"
This is regardless of what anyone else think, who we hurt or use to satisfy our own selfish yearnings!
Our self-centered desires constantly entice us to satisfy its cravings at ANY COST "Regardless" of the type of actions necessary to produce that satisfaction!
However, God is not pleased when we focus on pleasing ourselves and disregard the impact it has on others!

" Who Are You Pleasing? " (2 of 5)
This is just one of the many reasons we must take note of James 4:1 NLT-What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war within you?
V 2- You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it.
V 3- And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure.
V. 4- You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
V 5- Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?
V 6- But He gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As we find in the Scriptures; "God opposes the proud but favors the humble."
V.7- So humble (KJ-Submit) yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

To submit to God means to order one's self (desires, thoughts and actions, etc.) under God's control; to surrender to Him as a conquering King to obtain His favor.
We are to yield to what He has judged necessary for our welfare in this life and in the life that is to come.
To be pleasing to the Lord also means we must deny our selfish desires and resist the devil!
This means to stand against the devil's deceptions and his efforts to entice us to act out "OUR OWN DRIVES" "REGARDLESS" of what is spiritually or morally correct to do.
To resist the devil means he is to be looked upon as an enemy, to be opposed as such, to be watched and guarded against."
It means while we surrender to God in all things, we are to yield to the devil in none.

Satan secures his stronghold over our lives through temptations, flattering promises, fascinations of the world and threats, to name a few tricks.
This is why we are to resist him in whichever way he approaches us.
"Regardless" of Satan being as powerful as he is, God never permits him to conquer the person who continues to resist him!
For CERTAINLY--Satan cannot force our human will! In addition to the promise that Satan will flee from us, we will also develop our heart to be as the heart of God!
When this happens, it will override us displaying the selfish mentality of "It All About Me"!

As we do so, then the desire of our hearts will be as described by the song "I Just Want to Please the Lord"- by Brian Free and Assurance.
The lyrics include; "There are trophies to be won. Successes there to gain!
And some would sell their very soul to reach earth's highest gain. But to count this gain would be my lost.
If I suffered not commitment's cross so I set my eyes on things above. Searching with a heart of love!
I just want to please the Lord. Be in His will in every way. Just to be lost in His presence.
Found in His likeness, I want to hear Him say well done."
Let's concentrate on allowing the words of this song to be the motivating focus of our lives.
Then by so doing, it will enable us to be "Pleasing to the Lord!"

What an encouraging and timely word "Decision decisions;" The Word of God says that wisdom stands in the market place and cries aloud; perhaps waiting for us to embrace her in order to make right decisions. I like the word picture you used regarding the gift box; satan often brings harmful things wrapped in pretty boxes and bows, but when we open them the gift inside produces a blast similar to a terrorist's bomb.
