*Dr. Billy Ingram, founder of the Maranatha Community Church in Los Angeles has passed away.  He was 58. The cause of death is believed to be a massive heart attack.

Ingram was a well known and respected preacher of the gospel for nearly forty years.

Along his path he shared his other gifts such as being a voice over talent and in recent years, a photographer for Getty and Wire Images.

Pastor Billy's "The Legacy" tribute to Black History was held as a seminal work and was the soundtrack to Black History Month on KJLH-FM radio for many years during the month of February.

 Greetings!

Family, Your Attention Please!  (1 of 5)

Even though the process is not fully completed, we have celebrated various victories of overcoming sinful habits in our lives!

This is often at the same time choosing to ignore other areas of sin which the Holy Spirit continues to speak to our hearts to correct!

Family, we have received salvation-the forgiveness of sins through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

                                       purge

However, salvation demands that we continuously allow the Holy Spirit to purge us of those "disobedient" ways which are against God's Word.

Those "ways" which God calls sin that we "Family" quiet our consciences by calling them habits, shortcomings, the can't-help-its, minor offenses, little white lies and so on.

Family, as Christians, we must be mindful of the need to repent so that we won't be "Eternally Lost" even after attending the House of God!

Family, Your Attention Please!       (2 of 5)

Family, we need to repent because even though we are told in Ephesians 5:3...let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; unfortunately the following verses describe action in our "Christian Family"!

Galatians 5:19- forbidden sexual activity, fornication, adultery, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure,

 no return

v. 20- idolatry, witchcraft, hostile thoughts (attitudes or actions), quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, backbiting, bad-mouthing and bickering "creating and feeding selfish divisions among you", (Per commentator Junkins),  "The forming of organized groups and cliques", (Per commentator Eadie).

v. 21- envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin.  We must repent for we cannot yield to both fleshly and Spiritual ways and glorify God in our lives!

SEARCH ME OH GOD! with lyrics By ChristOurLife

Family, Your Attention Please!     (3 of 5)

Even though Israel was being directly addressed, the formula still applies today for us  "Family" which is found in

2 Chronicles 7:14- If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

praying people

Destry McFearin, the Worship Leader/Music Pastor at Hebron Baptist Church expressed it well by saying "God answered Solomon with four conditions for forgiveness...

1. Humble yourself by admitting your sins.

2. Pray to God, asking for forgiveness.

3. Seek God continually.

4. Turn from sinful behavior.

True repentance is more than talk - it is changed behavior.

Whether we sin individually, as a group, or as a nation, following these steps will lead to forgiveness. God will answer our earnest prayer.

Family, Your Attention Please!   (4 OF 5)

McFearin continues with, As individuals, we need to get our lives in line with our Heavenly Father.

We are all living lives that fall short of the Glory of God.

We struggle with sin.

We hold on to wrongs that were done to us by others.

 unforgiveness

We turn our backs on God all too often.

We allow the things of the world to take us away from that precious time of

worship with the Family of God.

We have failed to live out God's Word in our world.

We have become a nation of wimpy "Sunday" Christians who look no different than those who are lost in their sin.

All things of which we need to repent.

Family, Your Attention Please!   (5 of 5)

Mc Fearin continues; when we as individuals live lives that bring the Father glory; His church will be stronger than ever.

We will see revival.

people praising

We will experience His presence.

There will be an outpouring of His Holy Spirit in our midst.

When the Church becomes the Church, we will see things change in our nation.

So how does this passage come to life in our lives today?

We must humbly come before the Lord, seeking His forgiveness.

We need to seek Him continually and turn from our sinful behavior.

It's then and only then that He will heal our land."

Perfect peace
The world is filled with anxiety producing events that can overwhelm and discourage you; the dictionary defines anxiety as a general uneasiness or apprehension about the future; mental health professionals on the other hand, view the pervasive symptoms of anxiety as a clinical problem that they categorize based on the source and intensity of the anxiety.
The more common anxiety disorder is referred to as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which is highlighted by excessive worry, difficulty controlling your worry, and is associated with:
1.       Restlessness
2.       Fatigue
3.       Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
4.       Muscle tension
5.       Sleep disturbances   (DSM IV, 1994)
The word of God looks at anxiety in a very different light; the book of Philippians 4:6 tell us "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God."  The word of God calls us to take our eyes of the problem and ourselves and focus on Him, thereby minimizing the power we attribute to the problem.
If you are suffering from feelings of intense anxiety, seek professional help, but remember that God's word says that He is a present help in our time of need.

SENIORS DO YOU AGREE?

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER,
upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rulefrom rulers,

The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement or
God
 out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT  the ones who eliminated patience
and tolerance

from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism,

and remember those who have fought and died for our country..

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand

at attention with their hand over their hearts!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party...... even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps.... with a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

Now if I could only remember who sent this to me......
