Asha May, together with her mentor Debbie Allen, Idris Elba and Lance Gross have created an excellent TV series Milk + Honey

.

Idris and the Brown Paper Dolls company (Chicagoans and Howard U, FAMU & Spelman, grads Dana Gills, Asha Kamali May, and Jeanette McDuffie) have been working on this series for over 3 years.

The show was created to showcase diverse images of women of color that are rarely seen on the big or small screen, and also to create more opportunities for black actors.

The "Milk + Honey" scripted series will soon be seen on all platforms and is looking to get picked up by a TV network.

Still, they need 1 million views of the trailer which is posted on the website

 Greetings!

The "Rest of Faith"!    (1 of 5)

"Night Owls" are people who stay up late watching TV, surfing the net, reading magazines, books, communicating via Facebook, blogging and so forth...

These night-time activities are engaged in while their family members or neighbors are asleep.

If these individuals would join the majority and sleep, much of their next day aggravation due to loss of rest would be eliminated.

                                  sleepyhead

This includes being awakened before their desired time by family members, or noise in the community, dogs barking, gardeners, children playing, etc.

There are remedies for all of our aggravations if we choose to utilize them.

The "Rest of Faith"        (2 of 5)

One example of remedy may include submitting to our spouses, co-workers, employers, or friends instead of arguing and stressing and trying to always have things our way in situations that may be handled better another way.

Let's comply with their desires for another solution if practicable.

Another example is choosing not to worry and fret about situations that we have no control over.

                                confused 2

When storms arise in our lives, many times we lose focus on the Word of Promise which the Lord spoke to us PRIOR TO THE STORM!

We allow situations around us to dictate the level of our faith and peace in the development of the Word the Lord spoke to us.

The "Rest of Faith"   (3 of 5)

Such was the case with the Disciples as described in Mark 4:35-41.

V. 35-And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

                    stormy waters

V. 37- And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

The Sea of Galilee is well known for its sudden, violent storms.

However, this fact did not deter Jesus' declaration for their point of destination.
They were not going to start the journey and then be unable to complete it!

Especially when unlike Jonah who was in a storm because of his disobedience, the Disciples were in a storm because of their obedience to Jesus.

Many of the Disciples were experienced fishermen.

However, the fierceness of the storm caused them to fear, worry and even convinced them that they were going to die. Luke 8:23b -and they were filled [with water], and were in jeopardy

The "Rest of Faith"       (4 OF 5)

 promise of peace

The Lord's promise is that He will never leave nor forsake us.  However, we don't benefit from His presence when we are not where He is abiding.

 V. 38- And Jesus was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Bible Scholar Cole reflects, "The Lord's sleep was not only the sleep of weariness: it was also the "Rest of Faith", for there is a "Rest of Faith" as well as a "Watch of Faith".

We too must learn how to experience the "Rest of Faith" in the midst of the storm.

                       sleeping

Yes, there are times when we should take action or make decisions, but nothing should ever be done without Jesus' guidance and direction.

There is a time for active warfare and a time of peaceful rest.

Although the glorified Jesus never slumbers nor sleep, we must note some principles from His example in these verses.

When we stay close to Him, go where He leads, do as He does and "sleep" when He "sleeps", we will experience the "Rest of Faith".

The "Rest of Faith"      (5 of 5)

When we know in "Whom" we have believed and recognize "Who" is on board of the "Ship of our Lives" we will experience that "Rest of Faith".

We will experience this when we follow Jesus' lead and example in the midst of the storm.

When we have trouble experiencing that "Rest of Faith", then we can be comforted by Bible Scholar David Guzik's notation that "The wind didn't wake Him, the arguing of the disciples didn't wake Him, and water splashing over the boat didn't wake Him!

But at the cry of His disciples, He instantly awoke!

Jesus is with you in the storm!

man angel and devil

The questions is...Will you yet trust Jesus in the storm?

Relax, Rest, Don't Worry, and Stay Close to Jesus.

Remember the Word prior to the storm and just know by faith you WILL make it to the other side, NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

Let us decide to place our trials and tribulations into the hands of the Lord!

Peace and Blessings!

Attention Mothers and Fathers!!!!!

The following excerpts are from an email received from a reader.  Perhaps you can relate and will be encouraged by the following.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sis Tonya you have three handsome sons.  How do you keep from worrying about them?  I have one son.  He's 27 and sometimes I wish he was still in my lap so I could protect him. I know God is watching over him but I still want to protect him from the evil in the world.  I have 2 daughters also but I worry about him more.

It seems like when he hurts I hurt.  Isn't that crazy?  God bless you and your family. I was so impressed with your sons (smile).  I remember when they were babies.  I guess you hear that a lot (smile). Sis B M

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dearest Sister B M,
Thanks so very much for your email and your willingness to receive the One Faith Fellowship newsletter.  A mother's heart-- boy how tender is that~
If I had my way- my sons would still be under 10 years old, so that as you, I could more-so protect and care for them.  No one could have even described how it would now be when they grew up.  Wow- such a change of life! Certainly, there is the concern for my sons-- but how I quieted my heart is:

Pray, pray and keep on praying and covering them with the Blood of Jesus.

Keep on declaring to them that they shall be the men of God I birth them to be!

Realize that God loves them more than I could ever love them.

Realize that God has a purpose in their lives and He is watching over them and His purpose.

Realize that

God will do everything possible for them as He did for me

to convince them to CHOOSE His way and will.

Keep reminding them that I did not go to death's door for them to add to the kingdom of darkness, but to God's Kingdom and that they shall walk in the purpose of God for their lives.

Then when it is all said and done- even though I am going to keep on praying- I realize that they will have to make choices for their lives and as I have tried to guide their formative years and even now that they will pray and make wise decisions.

Sister B M, you and I and countless other parents- have no other choice but to keep on praying, loving, advising and living godly lives in front of them, and believing by faith that it will catch on to them and that they will embrace a godly lifestyle.

Blessings and love,        Dr. T Lewis

Sis B M's response:

Thanks Sis Tanya for reading my email and for your words of encouragement.  I feel so blessed and happy that you took the time to read it.  I want to make a donation to your ministry.  I will do the steps and make a contribution as soon as I can.

Sisters Don't Stop Praying
by Beverly Seymour

Even though times are hard and rough, don't stop praying Sisters, you're gonna get your stuff.

At times it seems so dark and gloom, but we are waiting on Jesus in our upper room.

With women standing together in unity and love, there is nothing we can't accomplish with the One above.

Sisters don't stop praying, stay in the fight, we have the victory and are His delight.

When the dust settles and the night fall comes, we shall stand mighty and tall in the midst of it all. Through thick and thin we will win.

Don't break the chain with strife and fear. Hold on to each other through the year. Fight the good fight of faith with all you got.

Let the devil know that the Sisters change not.

Even though times are hard and rough, don't stop praying sisters your gonna get your stuff.

What Is the Difference Between a Thermostat and a Thermometer?

Dr. Nola Veasie

Dr. Nola Veazie

Dr. Nola Veazie is the founder and CEO, of
V-Solutions Consulting.  She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II), and Continuing Education provider; she has many years of experience as a mental health clinician and trainer.

The former regulates the temperature, while the latter reads and reacts to the temperature.  God's desire for our lives is that we prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers.  Emotions, especially anger, are areas in which we allow the enemy to gain the upper hand.  When the enemy gains a foothold in our emotions, our soul no longer feels prosperous.

The word of God says "Be angry and do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians, 4:26); if you are alive, you have experienced anger; this is a normal emotion that we all experience as we react to a stimulus.  The longer we live, the more opportunities we will have to experience positive and negative stimuli; these can be intrinsic (inner) or extrinsic (outer); either way they give rise to emotions.  The good news is that we decide how we are going to react!  Will you be a thermometer?  Will you allow the enemy to take your emotions on the roller coaster of life?  Or will you be a Thermostat?   Will you become an actor rather than a reactor, deciding whether to go for a ride on someone's roller coaster?

Why should I be a thermostat?  Proverbs 23:7 tells us that the way a man thinks is the way he becomes.  When placed in a negative situation, our natural inclination is to become angry and reactive; this reaction is like the mercury on the thermometer that goes up when things get hot or down when things cool down.   God however, desires that we regulate our emotions so that we may be whole.

Hello Dr. Lewis,      Awesome words of wisdom. My prayer is for the ones who desire that our names will be cleared up on this side of the Journey so that love ones and friends will know we did the best we could.
We did not always have the best of advise and in most occasion we had no helpers!! The most tragic thing is that our children was left without both parents. Such a shame! And  so it is -and so shall it be justified!! Many thanks . Much love.  See you soon.  Sis.P.
