Featured persons in non-fictional movies or biographical books probably did not choose to begin living their lives to be displayed or exhibited to others.
It is highly probable that these individuals simply went about living their lives one day and one moment at a time.
Their lives were filled with the daily routine of decisions and actions, just like each of our lives. With some decisions, they experienced pleasurable results and with other decisions they realized they had made wrong choices thus causing regrets.
They did not envision that their decisions would be showcased to other people or that others would make judgments about their choices and even be swayed in their own personal lives by their actions. But such is the case!
Yes, for the most part, there will only be a small percentage of persons whose life stories will make it to the "Big Screen" or be read in a published book.
But nevertheless each one of us is making history each day of our lives by each decision and action we choose.

Our audiences are not only those who are close to us and witness our decisions first hand, but also those persons we may meet or come into contact with in other settings who may be impacted by the actions they learn from us and who may pass along our traits or behavior to others....
We are creating impressions and molds for others by our beliefs, values, attitudes and actions.
One of the great lies from the pit of hell is that our "personal" decisions do not impact or harm others. Another lie from the pit is that we can "just" tell others "Don't do as I do, but as I say". Both of these lies could not be farther from the truth.
But no man or woman is an island and therefore there is nothing we do that does not impact others.
This is not only true of our influence on children but also on adults.
There are people who will be influenced by our appearance, behavior, walk, talk, mannerisms and will attempt to mimic to some degree in their lives what they have seen in our lives.

How would we feel if the history thus far established of our lives was featured on the movie screen or published in a book for others to see or read?
Because we were not mindful that we were making history we might be ashamed that we did not always put forth our best efforts.
But thanks to God Almighty, the God of the second, third, fourth......chance; who has brought to our minds and spirits that each day is important as to how we live for we are creating "Archives of History".
Subsequently, the second part of the historical showcasing of our lives can be different!
We have another chance to begin from this day forward to choose victory or defeat for our lives or honor or shame as the title of part two.
We must be mindful that yes, we are making history even for our generations to come.

Only we individually can answer such questions as;
Am I establishing history by making foolish decisions or wise ones?
Am I demonstrating Christian values or my own self-centered values?
Are others being motivated to love and serve God as He has commanded from mankind because of my life?
Are families being encouraged to stay together and to work it out or to get their coats and make a dash when the going gets tough?
Are co-workers being influenced by my life to give a good day's work or to find some way to "slip and slide" and get through the day doing minimal work?
Are others being encouraged to maximize their gifts and talents because they learn from my example that staying focused and faithful will definitely pay off or learning how to start projects and to stop mid-way to completion?

Let's consider and ask these questions of ourselves;
What kind of history will we leave?
How do we as individuals want our lives to be remembered?
What kind of "impression" do we desire to make on others?
Does it matter to us as to how our lives are reflected?
Regardless of our responses, we must be mindful that each day of our lives and our actions are making history!
Let's decide to make choices that will reflect positive historical recaps of our lives for others to look upon and be influenced.

Student Opportunity
We ask that you encourage your students to apply to this all-expenses-paid program at Princeton University. If you are an administrator, we ask that you help us spread the word by publishing an announcement to teachers or other administrators who might know students who would be interested in applying. See below for more information.
We are writing to inform you about an all-expenses-paid summer program for high school student journalists from low-income backgrounds that will take place for 10 days in August on the campus of Princeton University. The program is entering its 10th year; since 2002, more than 185 students from high schools across the country have been selected to participate in the program. They were taught by journalists from The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The New Republic and The New Yorker; they covered Yankees, Mets, Jets and Liberty games and held a press conference with New Jersey's secretary of state; they met with Princeton University's president and dean of admissions; they received counseling on their college applications from our staff, which consists of Princeton University alumni and undergraduates; and they published their own newspaper. We hope that you will consider nominating some of your students to participate in this exciting program for aspiring young journalists.
Below is a quick list of instructions and pointers for having your students fill out the applications:
Please feel free to nominate as many students as you have who are interested. We will happily accept several students from the same school, so there is no need to worry about your own students competing for slots in the program. We have not determined the exact dates, but the program will run for 10 days from a Friday to a Monday. It normally runs during the first two weeks of August.
The application process will take place in two parts. For the first part, students should fill out the attached application, and then email it to sjpapplication@gmail.com as a Microsoft Word attachment. (If the student does not have access to Microsoft Word, the student should just copy and paste the text of the application into an email.) Before emailing us the application, students should name the document using the following format: Lastname.Firstname.doc. So, if the student's name is Mary Jones, the title of the document will be Jones.Mary.doc. In addition, the student should type his or her name and high school in the body of the email and put only the name of the Word document (e.g., Jones.Mary.doc) in the subject line of the email. We must receive the application by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, February 4, 2011. No extensions will be given for any reason. Please do not mail a hard copy of the application to Princeton University.
