Remote Area Medical (RAM)
Free Medical, Dental, and Vision Care
On April 27 - May 3, 2010, Remote Area Medical (RAM) will provide free medical, dental and vision care to thousands of needy individuals in the Los Angeles area. The free clinic will be held at Los Angeles Sports Arena located at 3939 North Figueroa Street , near USC. 1,200 people a day will be treated-possibly more depending on the final number of volunteers and participating organizations. The event is planned and operated by Remote Area Medical, a Volunteer 501(c)(3) charity providing free care to uninsured, underinsured, and indigent Individuals throughout the United States.
Free care will be provided to anyone who needs it, without cost of any kind to the patient, the taxpayer or the government. There is no income test, no insurance requirement, and no restriction of any kind. Medical and non-medical personnel will all be volunteers; supplies and equipment will be donated or provided by RAM. There will be at least 100 dental stations, 45 medical exam rooms, 25 eye exam stations. Dentistry will include cleanings, extractions, fillings, restorative procedures and root canals. Prescription eye glasses will be ground and fitted on-site. Minor dermatological and other medical procedures will be performed. Pediatricians and pediatric dentists will be present. Follow-up care will be arranged for those who need it, with most referrals to private sector practices and facilities.
There will be a strong emphasis on education, prevention and self-care. Mammography, pap smears, chest x-rays, and diabetes screening, blood pressure screening, and other services will be provided. Healthcare foundations and agencies will also distribute patient education materials. RAM/LA is a large undertaking, on a scale to make a significant difference in this time of great and urgent need. Success is achieved through medical and non-medical volunteers, local healthcare organizations, equipment and supply donors, and others who contribute their time, talents and resources.

"From Pleading to Praising"
Pleading implies begging and attempting to convince and sway a decision, to use arguments or persuasions.
Praising expresses approval, thankfulness, trustworthiness, worship and adoration.
In Philippians 4:6 we are commanded to (KJ) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. NLT- Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
Commentator David Guzik reflects: "This is a command, not an option. Undue care is an intrusion into God's arena. It makes us the father of the household instead of being a child. Paul says that everything is the proper subject of prayer.
There are NOT some areas of our lives that are of no concern to God ."

"From Pleading to Praising"
When we make our prayer requests known to Daddy-God which we are commanded to do, many times we linger too long at the "Junction of Pleading" with our Caring and Loving Father as though we MUST CONVINCE HIM to manifest good into our lives!
Certainly, we are invited to pray and to keep on praying. However, as maturing Christians, we must also move "From Pleading to Praising" God who LOVES US SO VERY, VERY MUCH!
When one has to plead for something, it means that the person holding the solution is hesitant or unwilling to provide what is needed or requested. This also reflects in the petitioner's uncertainty of receiving what has been requested.
|
"From Pleading to Praising"
Daddy-God has already proven even before our birth as written in Luke 12:32- Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom (KJ).
We don't have to plead and beg our Caring and Compassionate Daddy to do what is good for us! It is His pleasure to do so! Matthew 7:11- If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in Heaven give good things to them that ask Him? Yes, He desires that we ask; but He also desires that we move by faith into praising Him in advance for the good decisions He will manifest in our lives and definitely for what He has ALREADY manifested!
|
"From Pleading to Praising"
He desires that we so trust Him that we readily embrace
1John 5:14- And this is the confidence that we have in Him that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He hearethus:
NLT- And we can be confident that He will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will. V. 15- And if we know that He Hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
Commentator David Guzik reflects: "God would have us ask anything in prayer. This is not to imply that anything we ask for will be granted, but that we can and should pray about everything. God cares about our whole life, and nothing is too small or too big to pray about.
|
"From Pleading to Praising"
God wants us to see and discern His will through His Word, and to pray His Will into action. When John wrote this, John may have had Jesus' own words in mind, which he recorded in John 15:7: If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
When we abide in Jesus - living in Him, day by day - then our will becomes more aligned with His will and we can ask what we desire for then we will be asking more accordingly to His will. Then we will see answered prayer."
Therefore, as we develop a personal relationship with the Lord and get to know Him through His Word; we will more easily and quickly move "From Pleading to Praising" our Daddy-God concerning our prayer requests!
We will also find that Praising God does our mind, spirit and heart good; for it frees us from stressing out of our minds to praising out of our doubts, worries and cares!

ZIP LOCK BAG - Good tip! We went with friends to Sweety Pies on Sunday for breakfast and sat in the patio section beside the house. We happened to notice zip lock baggies pinned to a post and a wall. The bags were half filled with water, each contained 4 pennies, and they were zipped shut. Naturally we were curious! Ms. Sweety told us that these baggies kept the flies away! So naturally we were even more curious! We actually watched some flies come in the open window, stand around on the window sill, and then fly out again. And there were no flies in the eating area! This morning I checked this out on Google. Below are comments on this fly control idea. I'm now a believer!
Fill a ziplock bag with water and 5 or 6 pennies and hang it in the problem area. In my case it was a particular window in my home. It had a slight passage way for insects. Every since I have done that, it has kept flies and wasps away. Some say that wasps and flies mistake the bag for some other insect nest and are threatened.
Regarding the science behind zip log bags of water? My research found that the millions of molecules of water presents its own prism effect and given that flies have a lot of eyes, to them it's like a zillion disco balls reflecting light, colors and movement in a dizzying manner. When you figure that flies are prey for many other bugs, animals, birds, etc., they simply won't take the risk of being around that much perceived action. I moved to a rural area and thought these "hillbillies" were just yanking my city boy chain but I tried it and it worked immediately! We went from hundreds of flies to seeing the occasional one, but he didn't hang around long.

Dr. Lewis, your newsletter is such a blessing. There's always so much food for thought. I particularly enjoyed the various choirs' renditions of "The Prayer of Jabez" that were featured last week, especially the first group. I'm not sure who they were, but they sang with such conviction. I've been humming that song all week since. Blessings, L B

And as you said as you are being a blessing to someone, the Lord is sending a blessing to you by way of someone else. Our Father is so good. He never let us go without what we need. We might not have it right when we think we need it but just when you think all is lost there it is!!! God always leaves me with my mouth open!!!! You can't beat God giving no matter how you try. Hi Sis. Tonya, I was at 8am service today and there were three ladies N, A, and P who said the prayer and accepted Christ, but did not want to walk down. God compelled me to speak to N. She had tears in her eyes. I asked her if she accepted Christ as her Savior and she said she was starting to. I explained to her that if she said the prayer God received it and she was accepted as His child. I gave her your name as a contact so she would be treated with love and kindness. God bless you. I love you. Yours in Christ, Lady E |
